About the Role:

The Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of projects required to meet industry scheme, regulatory, and compliance mandates. The role ensures all mandated changes are assessed, planned, governed, and implemented within required timeframes while minimising operational, financial, and compliance risk. Working across business, technology, operations, risk, compliance, product, and external partners, the Project Manager will lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex change initiatives and maintain compliance with industry standards and scheme requirements.

The role requires strong stakeholder management, governance, risk management, and delivery expertise in a highly regulated setting.

Responsibilities

- Project Delivery
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of compliance and scheme-mandated projects from initiation through to implementation and closure.
- Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, resource requirements, and delivery roadmaps.
- Ensure projects are delivered within agreed scope, timelines, budget, and quality standards.
- Coordinate project activities across business and technology delivery teams.
- Manage project dependencies and impacts across concurrent initiatives.
- Scheme & Compliance Change Management
- Manage delivery of industry scheme mandates, regulatory changes, and compliance-driven initiatives.
- Ensure scheme deadlines and compliance obligations are understood, tracked, and achieved.




- Coordinate impact assessments and implementation planning for new scheme mandates and industry releases.
- Work with compliance, risk, legal, and business stakeholders to interpret requirements and define delivery approaches.
- Maintain evidence of compliance and support audit requirements where required.
- Governance & Reporting
- Prepare weekly reporting, Steering Committee updates, and status reports.
- Monitor and report on project health, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and financial performance.
- Provide clear visibility of delivery progress and compliance readiness.
- Escalate significant risks and delivery concerns appropriately.
- Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders.
- Coordinate internal and external stakeholders including vendors, scheme representatives, and industry partners.
- Manage stakeholder communications, expectations, and engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
- Risk & Issue Management
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
- Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Ensure compliance, operational, financial,



and reputational risks are appropriately managed.
- Drive timely resolution of project challenges to minimise delivery impacts.

- Financial & Resource Management
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
- Coordinate resource planning and allocation across delivery teams.
- Monitor project expenditure and ensure effective utilisation of resources.
- Support business case development and benefits tracking where applicable.

Qualifications

- 5+ years' experience managing complex business and technology projects.
- Demonstrated experience delivering compliance, regulatory, or industry mandated change initiatives.
- Strong project management expertise across Waterfall, Agile, or hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Strong risk, issue and dependency management capability.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work in highly regulated and deadline-driven environments.

Required Skills

- Experience within payments, banking, financial services, fintech, or card acquiring industries.
- Knowledge of Mastercard, Visa, eftpos, PCI DSS, APRA, or related industry frameworks.
- Experience managing scheme mandates, regulatory compliance programs, or operational risk initiatives.
- Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile PM, or equivalent).
- Experience with project portfolio management and governance frameworks.
