Job Summary The Production Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility. The role involves ensuring smooth production flow, achieving output and delivery targets, optimizing manpower and machinery utilization, and maintaining strict adherence to quality, safety, and compliance standards. The position will lead production and production-allied teams to ensure high levels of operational efficiency and on-time delivery performance (OTIF).
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning and Execution
- Plan, organize, and control daily manufacturing operations to meet production targets and delivery timelines.
- Ensure achievement of OTIF and adherence to production schedules.
- Coordinate with Planning, Maintenance, and Quality teams to maintain smooth process flow.
1. Operational Excellence
- Drive productivity and cost efficiency through process optimization and capacity utilization.
- Monitor key performance metrics such as OTIF, Cost per Gram, and Manufacturing Uptime.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement (Kaizen) and waste-reduction initiatives.
1. Manpower Management
- Ensure optimal utilization of workforce and promote multi-skilling across teams.
- Supervise and guide production supervisors, line leaders, and operators for effective output and discipline.
- Conduct regular reviews to assess team performance and training needs.
1. Quality and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to SOPs, safety protocols, and statutory compliance.
- Drive First-Time-Right (FTR) and Rejection Reduction initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Quality team to maintain product consistency and minimize rework.
1. Coordination with Support Functions
- Liaise with Planning, HR, Maintenance,
and Logistics for seamless production support.
- Communicate production constraints and requirements to relevant departments proactively.
1. Data Management and Reporting
- Track daily production metrics and analyze performance trends.
- Prepare and present reports on production output, efficiency, and downtime to management.
- Use ERP / PeopleStrong systems for real-time data monitoring and analysis.
1. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
- Ensure implementation of 5S and workplace safety standards across the facility.
- Conduct regular safety audits and maintain zero-incident culture.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience:
- 10–15 years of experience in production or manufacturing operations, preferably in jewelry or precision manufacturing industries.
- Proven track record of managing production targets and leading shop-floor teams effectively.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
- Certification in Lean / Six Sigma preferred.
Skills:
- Solid leadership, team management, and planning capabilities.
- Hands-on experience with production planning and scheduling.
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret operational data and implement improvements.
- Proficient in ERP, PeopleStrong, or SAP systems.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge:
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, machinery, and manpower management.
- Familiarity with quality systems, compliance norms, and regulatory guidelines.
