Product Manager, B2C
Bangalore COE · B2C product ownership, growth and P&L;
Location: Bangalore
Compensation: Competitive, structured to grow with company performance
Reports to: VP Product and Marketing THE ROLE
TutorCloud serves two customer segments on one platform. Our B2B business sells directly to schools through a sales-led model. Our B2C business is a product-led subscription offering for parents and teachers in India and the US. It operates across four cohorts, two currencies, and two school calendars.
The B2C growth plan depends on product improvements reducing our reliance on paid acquisition over time. Better activation, conversion, and retention should allow the product to contribute a larger share of subscriber growth each quarter. Roadmap priorities will therefore be assessed on their impact on these outcomes and the P&L.;
Several core product capabilities still need to be built. The teachers-only subscription line, the largest in the plan, does not yet have B2C pricing or a checkout flow. Signup and onboarding need to be ready for paid traffic at scale.
The gamification features required for the referral engine, including streaks and leaderboards, have not been built. Checkout conversion in India also trails the US, creating avoidable drop-off at the final stage of the funnel. You will own the delivery of these priorities.
This role sits within the marketing and growth organisation and reports to the VP Product and Marketing. You will work directly with the team responsible for the demand engine and partner with a small embedded engineering pod on a dotted-line basis. This is an individual-contributor product role; the engineers will not report to you. You will drive alignment through clear product thinking, evidence, prioritisation, and strong specifications.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
- Own the B2C product roadmap and P&L; across four cohorts: parents and teachers in India and the US. Review monthly performance across activation, checkout and funnel conversion, retention, and the share of new subscriber growth generated by the product without paid support
- Launch pricing and checkout for the teachers-only subscription line. This is the highest immediate priority and the largest subscription line in the plan; there is no purchase flow today
- Rebuild signup and onboarding so the funnel can support paid traffic at scale
- Build the gamification and referral engine, including streaks, class leaderboards, and the mechanics that convert teacher logins into discounts and school hand-offs to B2B. A meaningful share of next year's subscriber growth is modelled to come from this loop without media spend, and it has not yet been built
- Improve payment conversion, beginning with India, where checkout success trails the US. Reduce drop-off at the final stage of a funnel for which acquisition spend has already been incurred
- Implement end-to-end funnel instrumentation. Activity below signup is currently modelled rather than observed. Establish reliable activation, conversion, retention, and referral analytics that the growth team can use
- Design and optimise viral and referral loops that drive measurable organic acquisition, using real activation and retention data rather than a standalone sharing feature
- Define the monetisation architecture across both markets and currencies, including pricing tiers, plan mix, freemium gates, and discount mechanics
- Set product specifications and sequencing for a dotted-line engineering team, and deliver through influence, prioritisation, and a clear business case rather than direct reporting authority
- Ship AI-native product features, including personalisation, smart nudges, and adaptive content surfacing, that improve the user experience and make the product worth referring
WHO YOU ARE
- 6 to 10 years of product management experience, with most of it spent on a high-growth B2C subscription product. Enterprise or B2B SaaS experience alone will not be sufficient. You have owned freemium-to-paid conversion, checkout, or retention and referral loops at scale, and can show the outcomes
- Robust command of product-led growth metrics, including activation, conversion, retention, churn, and lifetime value. You use these as the main product scorecard, not just feature velocity or story points
- Hands-on expertise with product analytics and experimentation platforms such as Amplitude, Mixpanel, GA4, or equivalent. You should be able to work directly with the data and design and run disciplined A/B tests
- Demonstrated experience building viral or referral loops with a measurable virality coefficient, and designing monetisation models covering pricing tiers, plan mix, freemium gates, and discount mechanics
- A track record of shipping quickly through influence when engineering did not report to you, including ownership of the roadmap and product specifications
- Experience operating products across markets and currencies, with a practical understanding of how pricing, checkout, and payment rails need to be adapted by country
- Experience diagnosing checkout funnel performance and distinguishing acquisition issues, such as traffic quality, targeting, or bidding, from product and payment issues, such as friction or a broken step in the checkout flow
- A working understanding of consumer psychology and behavioural triggers, including the difference between a feature that is used once and one that builds a daily habit
- Experience shipping consumer-facing AI features such as personalisation, recommendations, or adaptive experiences, as well as using AI tools effectively in your own work
- IIT or IIM preferred, or a comparably rigorous quantitative and commercial track record
- Experience in EdTech or another high-frequency consumer app is a meaningful advantage. An understanding of what drives daily engagement among parents and teachers will be valuable
WHAT WE OFFER
- Ownership of the product roadmap against which the B2C growth plan is funded, for a pre-launch AI-native K-12 platform scaling across India and the US
- A founding-team role with direct access to the VP Product and Marketing, working closely with the growth and revenue function
- Competitive compensation with a performance-linked structure designed to grow with the company's commercial performance
- Clear, visible success measures and a defined starting priority: launch the teacher subscription checkout and address the product gaps affecting the plan
- The opportunity to help build and scale an ambitious AI-native education product across India and the US
