Who We Are

Dutient Labs is building Dutro, a multi-tenant data privacy and compliance platform (DPO-as-a-service) for the modern enterprise. We're a small, founder-led team moving quick on real infrastructure: microservices on OCI/Kubernetes, Keycloak-based enterprise SSO, AI-native compliance tooling, and a product that's live with customers.

We're backed by domain expertise at the intersection of global data privacy law (DPDPA, GDPR) and AI governance.

We're at the stage where the next hire shapes the technical DNA of the company, not just the codebase.

The Role

We're hiring a Principal Engineer to own the backend and infrastructure of Dutro end-to-end. This is a founding team role. You'll have a seat at the table on architecture decisions, work directly with the founders, and have meaningful equity via ESOPs.

We're not looking for a senior contributor who executes well on scoped tickets. We want someone who sees what's missing, figures out what needs to happen, and drives it to done.

Frontend/UI is out of scope for this role.

What You'll Own

- Backend services: auth, ingestor, chatbot, and workspace services built on Node/TypeScript, Postgres (Prisma), MongoDB, and Fastify
- Cloud and infra: OCI (OKE/Kubernetes), GitOps deployments via FluxCD, Vault-based secrets management, bastion-gated access
- Identity and security: enterprise SSO via Keycloak (OIDC/SAML), RBAC, audit logging, and the judgment to know where shortcuts are unacceptable
- Architecture and migrations:



setting direction, reviewing critical changes, and raising the technical bar as the team grows
- Product gaps: finding what's broken, undocumented, or not actually working for customers, and fixing it without being told

What We're Looking For

- 4+ years of backend/infra experience with real end-to-end ownership of a production system, not a contributor on a team someone else led
- Strong with Kubernetes, cloud infra (any major provider; OCI is a plus), and GitOps workflows
- Comfortable with Postgres, schema design/migrations, and multi-tenant data models
- Experience with identity and auth systems (OIDC/SAML/SSO) is a strong plus
- A track record of taking things from "broken or missing" to "live and working"
- Startup background is strongly preferred. If you've built at an early-stage company (0 to 1 or 1 to 10), we want to hear about it
- Bias to action, comfortable with ambiguity, doesn't need perfect specs to start moving
