Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon based at Swaraj Hospital & Research Institute in Bhubaneswar. The surgeon will perform a range of plastic and reconstructive procedures, including trauma reconstruction, burn management, post-oncologic reconstruction, congenital anomaly correction, and aesthetic surgery as appropriate. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing patients, developing treatment plans, performing surgeries, managing pre- and post-operative care, and coordinating with anesthesiology, nursing, and other specialties to ensure safe and effective clinical outcomes.
The role involves participating in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary meetings, and emergency consultations, while maintaining thorough documentation and adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards. The surgeon may also contribute to resident or staff training, quality improvement initiatives,
and research or case presentations in line with the hospital’s academic and clinical objectives.
Qualifications
- Recognized medical degree (MCh/DrNB in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery or equivalent) and completed residency in Plastic Surgery, with relevant board certification or eligibility as per national medical council regulations.
- Demonstrated clinical competence in plastic and reconstructive procedures, including trauma reconstruction, microsurgery (if applicable), burn care, wound management, and post-oncologic reconstruction.
- Proficiency in patient assessment, surgical planning, and perioperative care, with strong diagnostic and decision-making skills in complex cases.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, infection control, patient safety, and ethical standards, with meticulous attention to clinical documentation.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working within multidisciplinary teams, counseling patients and families, and providing clear operative and follow-up instructions.
- Ability to function in a high-volume hospital environment, manage emergencies, prioritize tasks, and maintain composure under pressure.
- Interest in teaching, mentoring, and participating in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality meetings, and quality improvement activities.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development, attend relevant conferences or workshops, and contribute to research or case reporting where feasible.
- Fluency in English; working knowledge of local languages in Odisha is an advantage.
- Previous experience in a tertiary care or trauma center setting is preferred but not mandatory for highly motivated and suitably trained candidates.
