Job Title: Part-Time Microsoft Purview Engineer

Location: Remote, India

Engagement Type: Independent Contractor, Hourly

Expected Hours: Approximately 10–15 hours per week

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft Purview Engineer to provide part time technical support for a Microsoft 365 data protection and governance engagement.

The engineer will assist with current-state assessments, configuration design, policy implementation, testing and troubleshooting. The role requires genuine hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview.

Key Responsibilities

- Review sensitivity labels, label policies, priority, encryption and publishing settings
- Assist with designing and testing a multi-level sensitivity label taxonomy
- Review and configure DLP policies across Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive and Microsoft Teams
- Investigate DLP false positives and recommend appropriate rule adjustments
- Test policy tips, user notifications, overrides, warning and blocking actions
- Review retention labels and retention policies
- Assist with Insider Risk Management policy configuration and testing
- Review Purview Audit, alerts, Communication Compliance and related configurations
- Identify protection and configuration gaps across Microsoft 365 workloads
- Assist with sensitive information types, classifiers and business-specific data patterns
- Create PowerShell scripts for inventory, validation and repeatable administrative activities
- Support policy validation,



evidence collection and remediation tracking

Data Governance Experience The following experience would be beneficial:

- Microsoft Purview Data Map and Unified Catalog
- Scan rule sets, classification scans and scan troubleshooting
- Reviewing classification coverage, metadata and data-source onboarding gaps

Required Experience

- At least 4 years of Microsoft 365 security or compliance experience
- At least 2–3 years of hands-on Microsoft Purview implementation experience
- Strong experience with sensitivity labels and Microsoft 365 DLP
- Experience troubleshooting Exchange Online DLP policies and false-positive matches
- Working knowledge of Insider Risk Management, Audit and Records Management
- PowerShell experience for Microsoft 365 administration and reporting
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision

Preferred Qualifications

- Microsoft SC-400 or SC-401 certification
- Experience with Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps
- Experience mapping technical controls to regulatory or audit requirements
- Previous consulting or enterprise implementation experience

Working Arrangement

- Remote position based in India
- Approximately 10–15 hours per week initially
