Program Overview The global energy landscape is transforming due to the integration of AI and the urgent demand for sustainable, carbon-neutral technologies. Located in the heart of Bangalore, you'll work with world-class researchers, AI experts, and industry partners in state-of-the-art labs to solve real-world energy challenges.
MS by Research
- Duration: 2 years, full time, on campus
- Credits: 80 total (40 specialized courses based on focus area — 24 offline + 16 online; 40 thesis research)
- Stipend: ₹18,000/month if assigned to sprint delivery or engaged as Project/Teaching Assistant
- Fees: Year 1 ₹75,000 | Year 2 ₹1,25,000
PhD Programme
- Duration: 3 years full-time / 4 years part-time
- Stipend: ₹38,000/month for full-time scholars,
subject to University terms
- Fees: ₹50,000 per year
Guides: AU faculty combine academic rigour with deep industrial experience, focused on translational research.
Research Themes
- Advanced Electrochemistry: batteries (new chemistries, recycling), desalination, green hydrogen, new membranes/electrodes/catalysts
- Energy Digitalization and Power Systems: AI for climate forecasting, grid optimization, energy trading, device aggregation, sustainable data centres
Eligibility MS by Research: B.Tech / B.E. / B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Energy or Materials Engineering, or B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Physics or Chemistry. Computer Science candidates can apply through the Energy Digitalization track to work on grid coordination and AI-driven materials discovery.
