Job Purpose To manage and oversee the underwriting, credit approval, and portfolio governance functions for Business Banking products, ensuring sound credit decisions, adherence to approved credit policies, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and effective risk management while maintaining agreed turnaround times and supporting strategic business growth.

Key Result Areas

Credit Analysis

- Analyse Business Banking credit proposals and provide credit recommendations based on established credit parameters, satisfactory internal and external system checks, and validation of sustainable business cash flows sufficient to service existing and proposed borrowing facilities.
- Assess the strengths and weaknesses of credit proposals and recommend appropriate risk mitigants to support the requested credit facilities for approval.
- Verify that all credit proposals comply with approved Product Programs, Credit Policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Undertake assigned projects aimed at improving unit productivity and strengthening lending products, credit policies, and underwriting standards.
- Identify process and policy gaps and recommend necessary enhancements to improve governance, efficiency, and risk management.

Exception Identification
- Identify and assess policy, credit, and collateral-related exceptions that deviate from approved credit parameters and compliance requirements.
- Escalate material deficiencies, policy breaches, and risk concerns to the Assistant Manager for review and appropriate action.
- Ensure daily productivity targets are achieved in line with departmental objectives.
- Deliver high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders while adhering to established turnaround time commitments.

Training, Testing & Process Enhancement
- Actively participate in automation and digital transformation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
- Support training,



user acceptance testing (UAT), and process validation activities implemented by the Quality and Process Excellence teams.
- Provide on-the-job training and guidance to new team members to facilitate knowledge transfer and capability development.
- Foster a collaborative work environment by promoting teamwork, engagement, and a positive team culture.

Credit Policy, Product Manuals & Operational Governance
- Recommend enhancements, amendments, and updates to Credit Policies and Product Programs to strengthen risk management and business effectiveness.
- Proactively suggest improvements to operational processes, controls, and risk management practices to ensure continued efficiency and compliance.
- Support the implementation of policy and procedural changes while ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and best practices

Knowledge, Skills, And Experience

- Graduate with 5 years’ work experience in Credit Management setting.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in SME/ Business Banking Credit underwriting.

- Excellent analytical skills.
- Sound interpersonal skills
- Ability to solve problems and work independently.
- Should be client-driven and achievement oriented.
