Position Summary

Level: Senior Product Specialist

As a Senior Product Specialist you will drive large-scale legacy modernization by transforming complex mainframe environments into modern, cloud-ready application ecosystems. This role blends deep mainframe engineering experience with hands-on capability in AI-assisted business rule extraction, automated code transformation, and modern architecture design. You will help accelerate migration outcomes, reduce delivery risk, and improve maintainability across critical enterprise platforms.

Work you'll do

As a Senior Product Specialist on the Engineering as a Service team, you will be responsible for…

- Mining and documenting business rules from COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, and JCL codebases using static analysis and AI-assisted extraction techniques
- Leading transformation of legacy mainframe applications into Java, Python, or .NET solutions using automated conversion tools and manual remediation approaches
- Rewriting IBM utilities, batch processes, and control logic into modern implementations while preserving functional integrity, restart capability, and error-handling behavior
- Designing and modernizing interface patterns across batch, messaging, transaction, and API-based ecosystems to support phased migration and target-state architecture
- Supporting regression validation, traceability, and modernization governance through testing, documentation, and collaboration with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders

The team Engineering as a Service provides complete design, implementation, and technology operations, leveraging our core engineering expertise. We transform engineering teams,



modernize technology, and deliver complex programs with a product engineering approach. Our flexible delivery models—traditional teams, pools, or pods—are tailored to each client’s needs, offering engineering-led advisory, implementation, and operational capabilities to accelerate innovation. Location: Bengaluru/Hyderabad/Pune/Chennai

Shift Timings: 11 AM to 8 PM or 2 PM to 11 PM IST, as per business requirements

Qualifications: BE/BTech

Required

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; alternatively, 6+ years of experience in software engineering, application modernization, or mainframe transformation
- 6+ years of experience with mainframe technologies including COBOL, PL/I, JCL, CICS, VSAM, DB2, IMS, and Assembler
- Experience with DB2 and VSAM in a mainframe environment, including data structures, access methods, SQL, embedded SQL, or migration activities
- Experience using AI-assisted or automated business rule extraction tools on legacy codebases
- Experience using mainframe-to-Java, Python, or .NET transformation tools and modernization methodologies
- Experience rewriting IBM utilities such as SORT, IDCAMS, IEBGENER, or IEBCOPY using modern languages or frameworks
- Experience modernizing integration patterns across batch, message queue, transaction, API, or event-driven architectures

Preferred
- Experience with modernization tools such as IBM watsonx Code Assistant for Z, Micro Focus Enterprise Suite, Blu Age, AWS Mainframe Modernization, TSRI, or Astadia
- Experience with LLM-based code understanding or prompt engineering workflows for legacy code analysis
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform for target-state hosting
- Experience with microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, or API management platforms
- Experience with Business Rules Management Systems such as Drools, IBM Operational Decision Manager, or Blaze Advisor




- Experience supporting modernization programs in banking, insurance, government, or healthcare
