We are looking for an experienced Lead / Principal Backend Engineer to lead the architecture and engineering direction of a cloud-based Call Center and Telephony Platform.

The platform supports interactions between AI-driven virtual agents and live human agents. The selected candidate will take ownership of the overall backend and telephony architecture and provide technical leadership across multiple backend technologies and communication systems.

This is a senior technical leadership role requiring strong expertise in telephony architecture, SIP/VoIP, backend engineering, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, scalability, and production systems.

- Own the overall backend and telephony architecture for the call-center platform.
- Define and drive the long-term technical roadmap and architecture strategy.
- Lead the strategy and execution of large-scale database migration and data architecture initiatives.
- Establish engineering standards, coding guidelines, architecture principles, and code review processes.
- Provide technical leadership across technologies such as Node.js, NestJS, C, Python, Go, and Lua.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design robust real-time communication, call orchestration, and handoff systems between AI-driven and human agents.
- Drive platform scalability, high availability, disaster recovery, security, and reliability.
- Design and oversee secure authentication, authorization, session management, and data protection mechanisms.
- Lead, mentor,



and support the professional growth of junior and mid-level engineers.
- Participate in important technology, infrastructure, cloud, vendor, and observability decisions.
- Represent the engineering function in stakeholder and leadership discussions.
- Translate business requirements into scalable and sustainable technical solutions.
- Own production uptime, SLAs, incident management, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews.
- Mandatory Skills & Experience
- Experience
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in Backend and/or Telephony Engineering.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in a Technical Leadership role.
- Telephony & Communication
- Strong architecture-level expertise in FreeSWITCH and Kamailio.
- Deep understanding of SIP and VoIP protocols.
- Experience designing and supporting large-scale telephony or real-time communication platforms.
