ABOUT
Agnikul Cosmos is a company incubated at IIT Madras and we build rockets that can take satellites up to 500 kg to Lower Earth Orbit (LEO). In May 2024, we successfully completed our maiden launch from our own launchpad (India's first private launchpad). The launch has proven all the new technologies developed by Agnikul and also earned recognition from Honourable Prime Minister of India
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement HSE policies, protocols, and procedures across the organization.
- Conduct regular HSE inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance and hazard control.
- Lead HSE training programs for factory, testing, and launch operations teams to enhance safety awareness and competency.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Advise management and operational teams on legal and statutory HSE requirements to ensure full regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to promote and sustain a robust safety-first culture.
- Define, monitor, and analyze HSE KPIs to drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
- Implement HSE procedures and conduct pre-activity safety inspections prior to product testing and critical operations.
- Identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions, and intervene promptly to ensure corrective measures are taken.
- Prepare, maintain, and track monthly HSE performance statistics and reports.
- Review the design and implementation of fire protection and firefighting systems.
- Coordinate with vendors by visiting their locations to discuss fire and safety system requirements and evaluate proposals/quotations.
- Conduct regular weekly safety meetings with various teams to review risks, compliance, and safety performance.
- Ensure all contract workers comply with company HSE policies and statutory safety regulations.
- Plan and conduct periodic emergency drills and actively participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- 0–3 years of experience in HSE, safety management, or EHS roles, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Basic knowledge of statutory HSE regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Ability to assist in conducting HSE training sessions and safety awareness programs for employees and contract workers.
- Understanding of incident reporting, investigation, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Familiarity with fire safety systems, emergency preparedness, and workplace hazard identification.
- Ability to monitor and report HSE KPIs and maintain safety documentation and reports.
- Good communication and coordination skills to work with cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or Fire & Safety certifications will be an added advantage.
