About The Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Java Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team as an L2 Support Engineer. This role encompasses 70% production support and 30% development responsibilities, primarily focused on maintaining and enhancing integrations with Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java development coupled with hands-on experience in production support environments.

You will be responsible for troubleshooting complex issues, performing root cause analysis, and collaborating with senior engineers to implement sustainable solutions.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for professionals who enjoy both debugging production problems and contributing to ongoing system improvements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability and optimal performance of critical backend services, supporting the seamless operation of retail cloud solutions.

Qualifications To qualify for this role, candidates should possess 3-5 years of experience in Java backend development and production support. A strong command of Java and Spring Boot is essential,



along with a solid understanding of REST APIs, service-to-service communication, and distributed systems architecture. Candidates should have proficient SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.

Familiarity with Kafka, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices is advantageous. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to analyze logs and metrics effectively, and a proactive approach to incident resolution. A background in unit and integration testing, along with positive judgment on escalation procedures, is also required.

Responsibilities

- Develop a comprehensive understanding of Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS, including its APIs, integration points, and related services.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and support integrations with Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS and associated backend systems to ensure stability and performance.
- Analyze logs, database queries, API responses, and Kafka events to identify root causes of production issues.
- Determine whether issues originate from the application, database, integration layer, or external systems, and address them accordingly.
- Lead incident response efforts, perform detailed root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain and enhance Java/Spring Boot applications through bug fixes,



feature enhancements, and performance tuning initiatives.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests, contributing to the overall testing strategy.
- Adhere to engineering best practices, including code reviews, documentation, and monitoring to ensure code quality and system reliability.
- Collaborate with L3 and lead engineers on complex technical or architectural issues, providing insights and support.
- Participate in on-call support rotations, ensuring timely tracking, escalation, and resolution of production issues.
