Remuneration: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications, experience and demonstrated technical capability.

Role SummarySpatial Logix is seeking an experienced SAR/InSAR Specialist with strong hands-on capability in radar remote sensing, interferometric processing and multi-temporal analysis, with applications in cryosphere, terrain dynamics and mountain-hazard assessment.

The role involves processing, analysing and interpreting SAR/InSAR datasets for deformation, displacement and change-detection applications, and producing technically robust, decision-ready geospatial outputs.

Core Responsibilities

- Process, analyse and interpret SAR/InSAR datasets for deformation, displacement and change-detection applications.
- Undertake DInSAR and multi-temporal InSAR analysis, including SBAS and PS-InSAR, as applicable.
- Assess SAR data suitability, acquisition geometry and repeat-pass requirements.
- Apply coherence analysis and offset/pixel tracking where required.
- Integrate SAR/InSAR outputs with DEM, optical and other geospatial datasets.
- Develop displacement maps, time-series products, change-detection outputs and technically defensible interpretations.
- Support analysis related to glaciers, glacial lakes, terrain instability and other mountain-hazard applications.
- Maintain reproducible processing workflows and technical documentation.
- Support SAR data selection, acquisition planning, technical deliverables and stakeholder interactions.

Technical SkillsHands-on experience with relevant SAR/InSAR and geospatial processing tools is essential, including platforms such as: ESA SNAP, SNAPHU, ISCE, MintPy, StaMPS, GMTSAR, GAMMA/SARscape, Python, QGIS/ArcGIS Pro and Linux-based environments.

Experience with Sentinel-1 and commercial or institutional SAR datasets will be advantageous.

Qualifications

- Postgraduate qualification in Remote Sensing, GIS/Geoinformatics, Geography, Geology, Earth Sciences or a closely related discipline.
- A PhD in a relevant discipline is preferred.
- Demonstrated hands-on capability in SAR, InSAR, DInSAR, SBAS and PS-InSAR is essential.
- Practical experience working with SLC-level SAR data is required.

Experience
- Minimum 4 years of relevant hands-on experience in SAR/InSAR processing, analysis, research or operational applications.
- Candidates should be capable of independently executing, troubleshooting and interpreting substantial SAR/InSAR workflows.
- Experience in glacial, cryospheric, geomorphological, slope-deformation or mountain-hazard applications will be an added advantage.
- Research scholars, doctoral/postdoctoral researchers and professionals with substantial applied SAR/InSAR experience are encouraged to apply, provided they meet the essential technical requirements.

- Retired officers from the Armed Forces / Defence Services with relevant technical experience are also encouraged to apply, provided they meet the essential SAR/InSAR requirements.

Key Competencies
- Strong understanding of SAR and interferometric principles.
- Sound analytical and technical interpretation skills.
- Ability to independently select and apply appropriate processing methodologies.
- Ability to recognise processing artefacts, uncertainty and data limitations.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capability.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Transparent technical documentation and communication skills.

Nature of AppointmentThis is a fixed-term contractual appointment for a defined period based on organisational requirements. The selected specialist will work as part of Spatial Logix's technical team and may contribute simultaneously across multiple assignments, applications and client requirements, coordinating with management, GIS, terrain and other domain specialists as required.

The engagement may be extended or considered for a longer-term association based on performance, technical capability, organisational requirements and business needs.
