Role Description : Head Production is a full-time, on-site role located in Mumbai. This position is responsible for overseeing end-to-end cold rolling production activities, including planning, scheduling, and executing daily operations to meet quality, safety, and delivery targets. The role includes managing production teams on the shop floor, monitoring equipment performance, coordinating maintenance activities, and ensuring adherence to process parameters and industry standards.

The Head – Production will collaborate with operations, quality, and supply chain teams to optimize throughput, minimize downtime, and control production costs. The role also involves reviewing production data, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting strategic decisions related to capacity planning and resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead production across HR/CR material routing, pickling, cold rolling, annealing/tempering, slitting, packing and dispatch-readiness.

• Define and stabilize grade-wise process windows for mild steel, medium/high-carbon and customer-specific grades.

• Drive capacity governance and debottlenecking across critical assets, including rolling mills, annealing/furnace capacity, slitting/profiling lines, utilities,



material handling and changeover practices.

• Own the production operating rhythm: daily control meetings, monthly capacity plan, schedule adherence, manpower deployment, shift productivity, scrap, yield loss and energy intensity.

• Partner with Quality, Technical, Maintenance, Supply Chain and Sales for new grade development, customer TDC conversion, trial planning, first-time-right execution and claim prevention.

• Build robust shopfloor systems: SOPs, control plans, process parameter discipline, abnormality escalation and data-backed decision making.

• Embed TPM, 5S, Kaizen/Lean, RCA/CAPA and standard work practices to improve reliability, safety, quality and output consistency.

• Ensure EHS compliance, machine safety, permit discipline, contractor control, housekeeping and zero-tolerance response to unsafe acts or bypassed controls.

Qualifications

- 10-12 years experience in steel processing, cold rolling manufacturing process
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Metallurgical Engineering preferred
- Strong technical understanding of HR and CR material behaviour, high-carbon grades, pickling, rolling, annealing/tempering, slitting, hardness, surface finish, flatness and dimensional tolerance control.
- Proven record of improving OEE, yield, productivity, downtime, changeovers, process capability, safety and cost performance in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated Team Management capabilities to lead, train, and motivate production staff while maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
- Ability to analyze production metrics, use ERP or manufacturing systems, and drive continuous improvement through lean, TPM, or similar methodologies.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and manage stakeholders.
