INGSOL Labs is hiring a Hardware Design Engineer to work on custom IoT and edge gateway hardware for industrial applications. You'll work alongside senior hardware and firmware engineers on production hardware — not isolated coursework — designing, bringing up, and debugging real boards from schematic to field deployment.
- Schematic design and PCB layout for embedded/IoT boards (power, digital, mixed-signal)
- Component selection with cost, availability, and industrial-grade (temperature, EMI/EMC) constraints
- Prototype bring-up and debug using multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, JTAG/SWD
4.
Interface design for industrial I/O: RS-485/RS-232, digital/analog I/O, Ethernet, USB
- Write and debug low-level firmware for peripheral bring-up and board validation
- Collaborate with the firmware/software team on hardware-software integration
- Support design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) reviews, and coordinate with PCB fabrication/assembly vendors
- Document design files, BOMs, and test procedures
Requirements
1. B.Tech/B.E. in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related field (fresher to 2 years experience)
- Working knowledge of KiCad or Altium (schematic capture and PCB layout)
- Hands-on project experience with visible debugging effort on a bare-metal ARM microcontroller (STM32 or similar Cortex-M) — worked at the register/peripheral level, not just library-abstracted code
- Embedded C/C++ firmware experience at the peripheral/driver level (GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, ADC)
- Solid fundamentals in digital/analog electronics, power supply basics, and microcontroller architecture
- Comfortable reading datasheets and application notes independently.
Preferred Qualifications
1.
Exposure to industrial protocols: Modbus, RS-485, CAN
- Familiarity with ARM-based SoCs/SBCs (e.g., NXP i.MX series) and/or Intel x86 embedded SoCs (N-series, Atom x7000RE)
3.
Embedded
Linux basics (Yocto/Buildroot, image flashing/booting, device tree)
4.
Windows
IoT/Embedded basics (driver installation, COM/USB debugging)
- RTOS experience (FreeRTOS)
- Exposure to TSN (Time-Sensitive Networking), hardware watchdog configuration, or TPM (Trusted Platform Module)
- Understanding of EMI/EMC and certification requirements (CE, UL)
- Genuine interest in industrial automation and manufacturing
