Role: Editorial and Learning Associate
Engagement type: Full time Contract
Availability requirement: Full-time during standard US Pacific hours
Duration: 3-4 months
Role Overview:
The Editorial & Learning Associate plays a dual role in shaping impactful higher education learning materials and executing downstream course development workflows. As part of the Editorial and Learning Team, this role leads competitive intelligence gathering, content ideation, and strategic documentation. Working alongside Senior Learning Managers, the Associate also executes downstream content quality reviews—including manuscript evaluations, copyediting alignment, page proofs, and assessment reviews—ensuring all course materials align with pedagogical vision and accessibility standards.
Project Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Competitive Intelligence & Ideation: Lead competitive intelligence gathering, build competitive benchmarks, evaluate content, and collaborate with partners to convert findings into strategic recommendations. Drive content ideation with authors, subject-matter experts (SMEs), and industry partners based on market insights, emerging trends, and editorial priorities.
- Content Review & QA: Review text manuscripts, copyediting changes, page proofs, and assessment items for pedagogical strength, accuracy, clarity, and objective alignment. Conduct final quality assurance (QA) reviews on digital platform courseware prior to launch.
- Strategic Documentation & Tracking: Develop and maintain strategic documentation, content tracking systems, and an author talent database to support execution.
- Inclusive Design & Standards:
Ensure all educational materials are respectful, representative, accessible to diverse learners, and free from negative stereotypes or unconscious bias. Track intellectual property (IP) information for course images and media assets.
- Escalation Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for customer-reported content-related escalations, partnering cross-functionally to deliver timely solutions.
Team Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
- Partner closely with Senior Learning Managers, Editorial Managers, authors, and SMEs to execute content strategy and course development tasks.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product teams and production personnel to advance shared goals and ensure on-time program delivery.
- Provide frequent, clear progress updates and maintain organized course documentation.
Educational & Skill Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) required. Degree in Instructional Design, Education, English, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of related experience in editorial, instructional design, or educational publishing, showing progression in scope and ownership.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with digital courseware platforms (e.g., MindTap/PBR), Power BI, CRM systems, or applied AI tools is preferred.
- Key Competencies: Higher-order critical thinking and analytical abilities, strong project management, exceptional attention to detail, adaptable/growth mindset, and excellent cross-functional communication.
