Company Description HackHalt Cyber Intelligence Council is a Section 8 organization focused on the global fight against cybercrime, providing a vital defense layer for individuals, businesses, and government entities. Role Description The Cybersecurity Researcher role is a full-time remote position focused on investigating emerging threats and enhancing defensive capabilities. In this role, the researcher will analyze vulnerabilities across applications and systems, conduct malware analysis, and perform reverse engineering to understand threat behavior and exploit techniques. Daily work includes designing and executing security research experiments, developing proof-of-concept tools or exploits, and documenting findings in clear technical reports and advisories.
The researcher will collaborate with internal teams and global partners to share intelligence, support prevention and detection initiatives, and contribute to training and educational content. The role also involves staying current with the latest security trends, tools, and attack vectors,
and proposing improvements to existing security controls and research methodologies.
Qualifications
- Robust foundation in Cybersecurity and Security Research, with experience investigating real-world threats and vulnerabilities.
- Hands-on skills in Application Security, including secure coding practices, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing of web and mobile applications.
- Proficiency in Malware Analysis and Reverse Engineering, using tools such as IDA, Ghidra, OllyDbg, or similar for static and dynamic analysis.
- Knowledge of operating systems internals (Windows, Linux), network protocols, and common attack surfaces relevant to modern infrastructures.
- Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, C/C++, Java, Go) for automation, tooling, and proof-of-concept development.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation, research papers, and advisories for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a methodical approach to research and experimentation.
- Comfort working independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with distributed, cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSCP, OSCE, GIAC GREM, CEH, or similar) are an advantage but not required.
