About The Role

As a Lead Cyber Security Engineer at GE Vernova, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the operational technology (OT) environments associated with high-voltage substations and related infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and continuously improve cybersecurity measures tailored to complex electrical systems, including AIS, GIS, HVDC, FACTS, STATCOM, and renewable energy setups, both onshore and offshore. Reporting directly to the project and line managers, and indirectly to the OT Engineering Cybersecurity Leader, you will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing renewable energy projects globally.

This role offers an excellent prospect to develop specialized skills in OT cybersecurity, engage with cutting-edge technologies, and contribute to the secure operation of critical energy infrastructure.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background in engineering, preferably with a focus on Cyber Security Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Electronics Engineering. A minimum of 5-6 years of professional experience in project security within an Operational Technology workplace is required,



with substantial exposure to the electrical industry or similar sectors. Candidates should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of industrial control systems (ICS), SCADA systems, and OT-specific protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, and OPC.

Relevant certifications in IEC 62443 cybersecurity standards are highly desirable. The candidate must have hands-on experience in designing and deploying security controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and network segmentation, along with familiarity with NIST cybersecurity frameworks. Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work under pressure are essential.

Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and vulnerability analyses for operational technology systems to identify potential security weaknesses and threats.
- Design, develop, and implement robust security controls such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, access controls, and network segmentation strategies to protect OT environments from cyber threats.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including OT engineers, IT professionals, and management, to integrate cybersecurity considerations into system design, deployment, and maintenance processes.
- Stay abreast of emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices, providing actionable recommendations to enhance security posture.
- Perform penetration testing and vulnerability assessments on OT systems to proactively identify and remediate security gaps.




- Offer expert guidance on OT security standards, policies, and procedures to internal teams, ensuring compliance and best practices are maintained.
- Engage with third-party vendors and suppliers to evaluate their cybersecurity capabilities and ensure the security integrity of OT systems.
- Develop and deliver cybersecurity training and awareness programs tailored for OT operators and relevant personnel to foster a security-conscious culture.
