About The Role

As a Lead Cyber Security Engineer at GE Vernova, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our operational technology (OT) environments, particularly within high-voltage substations and related infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and optimize cybersecurity measures tailored to complex electrical systems, including AIS, GIS, HVDC, FACTS, STATCOM, and renewable energy assets both onshore and offshore. Reporting directly to the project and line managers, and indirectly to the OT Engineering Cybersecurity Leader, you will be part of a dynamic team working on cutting-edge renewable projects globally.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a robust educational background in engineering, with specialization or relevant experience in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, or electronics engineering.



A minimum of 5-6 years of experience in project security within operational technology environments, particularly in the electrical industry, is required. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of industrial control systems (ICS), SCADA systems, and OT technologies, along with familiarity with protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, and OPC.

Relevant experience in designing and implementing security controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and network segmentation, is essential. Knowledge of IEC 62443 standards and NIST cybersecurity frameworks will be advantageous.

Certifications in IEC 62443 (minimum level 1 or 2) are preferred, reflecting a commitment to industry best practices. Candidates should also possess excellent communication skills, be proactive, resilient, and capable of working under pressure while managing multiple projects effectively.

Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive risk and vulnerability assessments of operational technology systems to identify potential security weaknesses and threats.
- Design, develop, and implement robust cybersecurity controls, including intrusion detection, firewalls, access management, and network segmentation, tailored to OT environments.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including OT engineers, IT professionals, and management, to embed cybersecurity considerations into system design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Stay abreast of emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices,



providing recommendations for continuous security improvements.
- Perform penetration testing and vulnerability assessments to proactively identify and remediate security gaps within OT systems.
- Offer technical guidance and expertise to internal teams regarding cybersecurity standards, policies, and procedures for OT environments.
- Engage with third-party vendors and suppliers to evaluate their cybersecurity capabilities and ensure the security of integrated systems.
- Develop and deliver cybersecurity training and awareness programs to OT operators and personnel involved in operational activities.
