We’re looking for someone who believes writing is thinking.
Someone who cares about the difference between the right word and an almost-right word. Someone who understands how a company explains its product shapes how people perceive the product itself.
This is not a role for producing content for the sake of filling a content calendar.
You’ll work closely with the Product Dept. to understand the product deeply, figure out what is worth saying, and find the clearest and most compelling way to say it.
You’ll create content across different parts of the customer journey, including:
- Technical and product-led articles
- Knowledge-base and help-centre content
- Customer stories and case studies
- Product launches and feature communication
- Website and landing-page copy
- Brand and thought-leadership content
- Sales and product marketing collateral
- Short-form content when the idea deserves fewer words
The tone won’t always be the same. A knowledge-base article needs clarity.
A customer story needs narrative.
A product page needs positioning.
A brand piece needs a point of view.
You should be able to understand those differences and change how you write accordingly.
What we're looking for
You may be a good fit if:
- You genuinely enjoy writing. Not just content creation but pure writing.
- You believe valuable writing starts with understanding the problem clearly.
- You obsess over clarity, structure, rhythm, and word choice.
- You can understand technical products and explain them without making them sound complicated.
- You are curious enough to ask why a feature exists before writing about what it does.
- You can understand brand positioning and maintain a consistent voice across very different formats.
- You have a creative bent and can find interesting ways to communicate seemingly boring subjects.
- You can take feedback without becoming precious about your first draft.
- You are comfortable rewriting something multiple times until it says exactly what it needs to say.
- You notice when writing sounds generic, corporate, artificial, or unnecessarily verbose.
What we don't want
We're probably not the right fit if your approach to content is:
Keyword → ChatGPT → Blog → Publish.
AI can absolutely be part of your workflow. But we expect the thinking, judgement, perspective, and taste behind the writing to come from you.
We care much more about how you think than how quickly you can generate 1,500 words.
You don't need to be highly technical
But you should enjoy figuring things out.
You'll regularly encounter product workflows, features, data, business processes, and technical concepts that you don't understand initially.
Your job is to understand them well enough that, by the time you've finished writing, they feel obvious to the reader.
Bonus points if
- You read classic fiction.
- You have written for advertising agencies as a copywriter.
- You have written for a SaaS or technology product before.
- You enjoy reading good product marketing and brand writing.
- You have experience interviewing customers or turning conversations into stories.
- You have opinions about what makes writing good.
- You maintain a blog, newsletter, portfolio, journal, or any other body of writing.
