Role Overview

As a Client Virtualization Engineer, you will administer, maintain, and optimize virtual desktop platforms across the enterprise. This role incorporates management of Horizon (Omnissa) VDI, Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, and related Microsoft components to ensure a reliable, performant, and secure virtual workspace experience for global users. You will collaborate closely with Endpoint Services, Infrastructure, Security, and Application teams to maintain service stability, manage images, deliver applications, and support user setting configurations.

Responsibilities

- Administer and support virtual desktop environments, including Horizon (Omnissa), Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, session hosts, and associated Microsoft platform components.
- Maintain VDI golden images, base configurations, and application layers aligned with enterprise standards.
- Manage provisioning, patching, and update cycles across virtual desktop platforms.
- Troubleshoot VDI incidents involving connectivity, login performance, FSLogix profile issues, user environments, printing, application access, and endpoint interactions.
- Assist with FSLogix profile management, policy enforcement, and user environment configuration.
- Monitor system health, capacity, and performance across VDI environments and escalate issues when needed.
- Support application publishing, testing, and deployment within both Horizon and Azure Virtual Desktop environments (including full desktops and remote applications).
- Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge articles supporting VDI operations.
- Implement and maintain automation solutions, including power‑saving and load‑optimization configurations across VDI environments.

- Availability and stability of assigned VDI services.
- Incident resolution time for VDI-related support tickets.
- Success rate of image updates, patching, and application deployments.
- Reduction in repeat issues related to profiles, performance, or configuration.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
- Microsoft Azure, Windows, or Microsoft 365 certification preferred.
- Foundational knowledge of VDI concepts and Windows administration required.
- Basic PowerShell knowledge preferred.

Experience

- 2–5 years of experience in endpoint support, infrastructure support, or virtual desktop administration.
- Experience supporting Windows operating systems, Active Directory/Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Exposure to Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Remote Desktop Services, Horizon (Omnissa), or similar VDI technologies preferred.
- Familiarity with profile management, printing, remote access, and application delivery in virtualized environments.
- Basic experience with image management, patching, and monitoring tools.
- Experience creating or maintaining technical documentation preferred.

Scope Factors

- Supports operational delivery of virtual desktop services under general direction. No direct people or budget responsibility.
- Scope includes service support, maintenance, and administration for assigned VDI platforms and user groups.
- Works across infrastructure, service desk, security, and endpoint teams through matrix collaboration.
