Purpose/Objective

To supervise and manage all mining activities during the assigned shift, ensuring secure, effective, and statutory-compliant coal production operations.
The incumbent will be responsible for manpower deployment, equipment utilization, safety compliance, and achievement of production targets as per the approved mine plan.

Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, HEMM, contractors, and other mining resources.
Monitor drilling, blasting, excavation, loading, transportation, and dumping activities.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment availability and minimize downtime.
Maintain shift-wise production records and submit daily reports.
Safety & Statutory Compliance - Ensure compliance with the Mines Act, Coal Mines Regulations (CMR), DGMS guidelines, and company safety policies.
Conduct workplace inspections and identify hazardous conditions.
Ensure implementation of secure mining practices and risk control measures.




Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts reported during the shift.
Conduct tool-box talks and safety briefings before commencement of work.
Team Management - Supervise mining supervisors, operators, and contract workmen during the shift.
Allocate duties and monitor workforce productivity.
Ensure discipline and adherence to operational procedures.
Guide and train shift personnel on safety and operational best practices.
Documentation & Reporting - Maintain statutory records, shift logs, and production reports.
Report deviations, accidents, equipment breakdowns, and operational issues to management.
Ensure proper handover of shift status to the incoming Shift Incharge.

Technical Competencies

DGMS statutory compliance.
,Drilling and blasting knowledge.
,HEMM deployment and utilization.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Mining Engineering from a recognized institute.
Second Class Manager's Certificate of Competency (Coal) issued by DGMS is mandatory.
Experience 3 to 10 years of experience in Open Cast or Underground Coal Mining operations.
