About The Role

FM is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Engineer to spearhead growth initiatives within its fire protection and building materials segments across India and the Middle East. This pivotal role involves identifying new market opportunities, fostering strong relationships with manufacturers, end users, and regulatory authorities, and promoting the adoption of FM Approved products. The successful candidate will serve as a key representative of FM, engaging with industry stakeholders at seminars, conferences, and trade shows, delivering technical presentations, and supporting certification projects from inception to completion.

This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to expanding FM’s presence in these dynamic regions.

The Business Development

Engineer will also contribute to maintaining compliance with regional regulatory and certification requirements, ensuring FM’s offerings remain relevant and competitive.





Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, preferably within the fire protection industry or related industrial sectors.

Experience in business development, technical sales, or marketing is essential, with an ability to translate complex certification requirements into compelling value propositions for clients. Strong stakeholder management skills, disciplined follow-up, and the ability to build long-term relationships with manufacturers, laboratories, and regulatory bodies are critical. The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Prior travel experience, especially within the Middle East, is advantageous. Familiarity with product certification processes, fire protection standards, and FM Approvals’

certification procedures will be considered a significant asset.

Responsibilities

- Drive business development initiatives across India and the Middle East to promote the adoption of FM Approved products and services.
- Identify, qualify, and engage with manufacturers, influencing decision-makers to pursue FM Approvals certification for their products.
- Establish and maintain strong, strategic relationships with manufacturers, end users, and regulatory stakeholders to facilitate certification and market penetration.
- Represent FM at industry seminars, conferences, and trade shows, delivering technical presentations and engaging with industry professionals to enhance brand visibility.
- Stay informed about regional regulatory and certification requirements,



ensuring compliance and alignment with local standards.
- Travel as needed, including overnight stays, to support customer engagements, participate in industry events, and facilitate certification processes (approximately 40% travel).
- Support certification projects through scoping, auditing, witnessing, documentation, and reporting to ensure adherence to certification standards.
- Develop and apply technical expertise across engineering and scientific disciplines to support internal teams and external clients, ensuring technical accuracy and quality.
