Your mission

The Associate Trainee – Painting & Welding will undergo structured on-the-job training in welding and painting processes, supporting production activities while developing practical skills in fabrication, welding, surface preparation, painting, inspection, safety, and production documentation. The trainee will work under the guidance of experienced supervisors, engineers, welders, and painters and shall follow approved Work Instructions, Process Specifications, Quality Requirements, PPE requirements, and applicable customer/railway standards.

Welding

Activities

- Assist in TIG, MIG/MAG and Arc welding activities as assigned.
- Learn and follow approved WPS, welding parameters and Work Instructions.
- Support fit-up, tack welding, welding and visual inspection activities.
- Maintain proper identification and traceability of parts/components during fabrication.
- Assist in preparation and handling of welding consumables.
- Check basic welding parameters such as current, voltage, gas flow and polarity under supervision.
- Identify common welding defects such as porosity, undercut, lack of fusion, cracks and spatter.
- Support weld cleaning, grinding and finishing activities.
- Maintain proper housekeeping around welding work areas.

B.

Painting

Activities
- Assist in surface preparation, cleaning, masking and protection of components.
- Support primer and top-coat application using approved painting methods.
- Learn and follow approved paint specifications,



mixing ratios, pot life and application parameters.
- Assist in monitoring environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity and surface temperature.
- Support measurement of Wet Film Thickness (WFT) and Dry Film Thickness (DFT) under supervision.
- Assist in visual inspection of painted surfaces for defects such as runs, sagging, pinholes, orange peel, dry spray and insufficient coverage.
- Maintain proper handling, storage and identification of paints and related materials.
