Position Purpose The Associate Professor – AI, Robotics & IIoT will serve as the senior technical and academic anchor for the B.Tech programme in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

The position will own the engineering and technology spine of the programme, covering sensors and actuators, PLC, HMI, SCADA, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Robotics, Edge Computing, IIoT, Digital Twins and Predictive Maintenance.

The role is strongly application-oriented, requiring the ability to combine academic teaching, research and hands-on industrial laboratory implementation. The successful candidate should be capable of conducting advanced research while also demonstrating and commissioning industrial automation, robotics and machine-vision applications on live laboratory platforms.

Mandatory Academic & Professional Eligibility

- Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Robotics or a closely allied engineering discipline.
- M.E./M.Tech. in a relevant engineering branch.
- First Class or equivalent at Bachelor's or Master's level.
- 8–10 years of combined teaching, research and/or relevant industry experience.
- Minimum 2 years of post-Ph.D. experience.
- Minimum 6 research publications in SCI, Scopus or UGC-CARE listed journals.
- Demonstrated experience in research supervision at postgraduate level.
- Recognised Ph.D. guide/supervisor status will be strongly preferred.
- Solid combination of academic expertise and hands-on industrial technology exposure.

Technical Competencies The candidate should possess strong practical and teaching capability in multiple areas, including: Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning

- Supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning.
- Deep learning, CNN, RNN and Transformer architectures.
- Model training, optimisation and evaluation.
- Industrial AI and MLOps.




- Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch and scikit-learn

Computer & Machine Vision

- Image acquisition and preprocessing.
- Defect detection and dimensional inspection.
- Camera calibration and industrial vision systems.
- Machine vision libraries and SPC analytics.

Robotics

- Forward and inverse kinematics.
- Robot dynamics and trajectory planning.
- ROS/ROS2.
- Industrial robot programming and teach-pendant operation.
- Cobots and human-robot collaboration.
- Exposure to FANUC or equivalent industrial robots.

Industrial Automation

- PLC programming using Ladder Logic and Structured Text.
- HMI and SCADA development.
- Sensors, actuators and transducers.
- Pneumatics and electro-pneumatics.
- Industrial automation platforms such as SMC and Schneider Electric.

IIoT & Edge Computing

- Edge gateways and edge inference.
- Industrial communication protocols including Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, OPC-UA and MQTT.
- Industrial data acquisition and time-series pipelines.
- Industrial cloud and edge platforms.

Digital Twin & Simulation

- Process simulation and virtual commissioning.
- Digital twin development.
- Scenario modelling and what-if analysis.

Predictive Maintenance

- Condition monitoring.
- Vibration and thermal analysis.
- Remaining Useful Life estimation.
- Predictive maintenance and industrial ROI modelling.

OT Cybersecurity & Functional Safety

- ISA/IEC 62443.
- IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.
- OT network segmentation and industrial safety practices.

Key Responsibilities A. Teaching & Curriculum Development





- Deliver core and advanced courses within the B.Tech AI, Robotics & IIoT curriculum.
- Design and continuously update course content, syllabus mapping, lesson plans and assessment frameworks.
- Develop question banks, assignments, laboratory exercises and CO–PO attainment plans.
- Develop and maintain laboratory manuals and experiment sheets for AI, robotics, automation and IIoT laboratories.
- Integrate industry-oriented projects, case studies and hands-on learning into classroom delivery.
- Contribute AI and automation modules to PGDM, PGDM Global and MBA programmes wherever required.

B. Laboratory & Technical Delivery
- Act as the academic and technical owner of the AIT-400 AI Machine Lab.
- Plan laboratory schedules and ensure experiment quality, safety, calibration and equipment utilisation.
- Coordinate with OEM technical teams for equipment commissioning, maintenance and uptime.
- Obtain and maintain relevant OEM certifications, including SMC and, where applicable, Schneider Electric and FANUC.
- Conduct hands-on demonstrations and practical assessments on automation, robotics, AI and machine vision systems.
- Support technical delivery of the Applied AI for Automation certification in collaboration with academic/OEM partners.

C. Research, Innovation & Consultancy
- Publish a minimum of 2 Scopus/SCI-indexed research papers annually in industrial AI, robotics, automation or IIoT.
- Identify emerging research areas and develop industry-relevant research projects.
- Prepare and submit at least 1 external funded research/consultancy proposal annually.
- Supervise postgraduate research, dissertations and B.Tech capstone projects.
- Encourage interdisciplinary research involving AI, robotics, automation and industrial systems.
- Develop patents, intellectual property and technology solutions in collaboration with industry and OEM partners.
