Description

Meltwater is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to join their new AI engineering team in Hyderabad. The role involves building AI systems for internal and external customers, focusing on automating expert work and delivering custom AI solutions.

Experience

- 4–9 years in software engineering, AI/ML engineering, or a related technical role
- Hands-on experience taking AI-powered applications into production
- Some experience mentoring or technically guiding less-experienced engineers

Qualification

- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or an equivalent degree

Responsibilities

- Design, build, and operate LLM-powered agents and multi-step workflows including tool use, planning, state and memory, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, and failure recovery
- Build forward-engineering agents that convert ambiguous inputs into technical outputs for internal teams and customers
- Deploy, monitor, and optimize AI solutions for reliability and cost
- Perform prompt engineering with task decomposition, context design, structured outputs, tools and schemas, and model selection
- Build evaluation frameworks including golden datasets, regression suites, and relevant metrics such as accuracy, groundedness,



hallucination rate, latency, and cost per unit
- Determine when LLMs are appropriate versus retrieval, classical models, or deterministic code
- Mentor early-career engineers through code review, pairing, and design discussions
- Help set team standards for testing, prompt and evaluation conventions, observability, and definition of done for AI features
- Collaborate with product managers, platform engineers, and users across time zones to translate fuzzy requirements into technical approaches with clear trade-offs

- Experience with large-scale LLM enrichment or classification pipelines focusing on cost and quality per document
- Background in NLP, information retrieval, or media and text analytics
- Experience with Transformers, fine-tuning, PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Experience with computer vision and speech-to-text in production
