Job Description – QC InspectorCompany: Basant Autotech LLP
Location: Jalandhar, Punjab
Department: Quality Control
Reporting to: Senior QC Engineer / Quality Head
Employment: Full time
Preferred Experience: 2–5 years in inspection of precision-machined components
Role Overview
Conduct incoming, first-piece, in-process and final inspection of automotive and aerospace components using conventional measuring instruments. Ensure components meet drawing specifications, maintain accurate inspection records and promptly report deviations.
Key Responsibilities
- Read engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances and basic GD&T; requirements.
- Inspect CNC-turned and milled components in accordance with approved inspection plans.
- Independently use vernier callipers, micrometres, dial bore gauges, dial indicators, height gauges, depth gauges, slip gauges, and thread plug/ring gauges.
- Check dimensions, surface finish, threads, burrs and visual defects.
- Prepare incoming, first-piece, in-process and final inspection reports.
- Record measurements and support preparation of First Article Inspection reports.
- Identify, label and segregate rejected or suspect components to prevent unintended use or dispatch.
- Immediately report deviations to the Senior QC Engineer and production supervisor.
- Reinspect reworked components against specified requirements.
- Maintain part, batch and inspection-status traceability.
- Check instrument calibration validity before use and maintain calibration records under supervision.
- Support rejection analysis and verification of corrective actions.
- Maintain inspection-area cleanliness, instrument care and 5S discipline.
- Follow approved quality procedures and support internal and customer audits.
Qualifications and Skills:
- ITI or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production, Tool and Die, or a related discipline. Relevant practical experience may also be considered.
- Hands-on experience inspecting precision-machined components.
- Sound knowledge of measuring instruments, drawing interpretation, fits and tolerances.
- Basic understanding of GD&T; and inspection sampling.
- Ability to prepare accurate reports using Microsoft Excel.
- Disciplined, detail-oriented and honest in recording inspection results.
- Willingness to work in shifts when required.
Preferred Exposure:
- Automotive or aerospace component inspection.
- Surface roughness testing and profile projector operation.
- Control plans, FAI documentation and basic PPAP records.
- ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality-system awareness.
Performance Expectations:
- Accurate inspection with minimal inspection escapes.
- Timely completion of inspections and reports.
- Prompt identification and escalation of non-conformities.
- Complete traceability and proper inspection-status identification.
- Correct handling and upkeep of measuring instruments.
Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate should be disciplined, detail-oriented and capable of taking responsibility for inspection decisions. The person must maintain integrity in reporting and should never approve a component that does not meet the specified requirements.
