Title: HCX Migration Engineer

Location: Pune / Bengaluru (Onsite Setup)

Employment Type: 3 months Contract

About the Role

You will join the Barclays Migration Factory as a replacement for an existing team member and will be responsible for delivering workload migrations using VMware HCX. The role is heavily hands-on, focused on planning and executing HCX-based migrations at scale.

Responsibilities

- Execute HCX-powered workload migrations (P2V and V2V) across source and target environments, ensuring minimal downtime and risk.
- Use VMware HCX and other migration tools (e.g., PlateSpin, DoubleTake/Carbonite) to migrate workloads from physical and virtual platforms.
- Perform application and infrastructure dependency mapping for migration planning and sequencing.
- Work with infrastructure, network, and application teams to schedule and deliver migrations under the Migration Factory framework.
- Troubleshoot migration failures and performance issues, implementing corrective actions quickly.
- Maintain detailed migration runbooks, plans, and post-migration documentation for each wave
- Ensure adherence to security,



compliance, and Barclays standards during all migration activities.

Required Skills & Experience

- 5–8 years of experience with VMware platforms, including significant migration project exposure.
- Robust, hands-on HCX migration experience in enterprise environments (must-have).
- Demonstrated experience with P2V/V2V migrations on VMware and Hyper-V using enterprise tools.
- Good understanding of application dependency mapping and cutover planning.
- Solid troubleshooting skills across compute, storage, and network during migrations.

Nice to Have

- Experience working in migration factories or large transformation programs, ideally in financial services.
- Familiarity with NSX and network virtualization to support migration-related network changes.
- VMware certifications related to data center virtualization or cloud.

Work Pattern

- Primarily business hours with flexibility for evening/weekend migration windows.
