Role Description

This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining security and compliance programs that align with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing existing security controls, conducting risk and gap analyses, and recommending technical and procedural safeguards for protected health information. The specialist will develop and update policies, procedures, and training materials, and collaborate with IT, clinical, and operations teams to ensure secure data handling and incident response readiness. The role also involves performing compliance audits, supporting remediation activities, and preparing reports and documentation for internal stakeholders and external regulatory or audit bodies.

Qualifications

- Healthcare and Medicine knowledge, including familiarity with clinical workflows and handling of protected health information.
- EMT or other healthcare training background that supports practical understanding of healthcare environments and patient safety considerations.




- Robust Communication skills, including the ability to explain security and compliance requirements to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience delivering Training related to HIPAA, security awareness, and healthcare compliance best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in healthcare security, HIPAA compliance, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., HITECH, NIST, HITRUST) is highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, risk management, access control, encryption, and incident response within healthcare settings.
- Ability to analyze complex processes, document policies and procedures, and manage multiple compliance initiatives simultaneously.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., HCISPP, CISSP, CISM, CHPS, or equivalent) and a degree in information security, healthcare administration, IT, or a related field are preferred.
