Position Title: Assistant Manager – Manufacturing & SBU Finance (BFG)

Reporting To: Head – Business Finance (BFG)

Qualification & Experience:

n

n
- CA / CMA – Inter / Qualified CMA preferred.
n
- 4–7 years of relevant experience in manufacturing finance, plant controlling, business finance, FP&A;, commercial finance, or pharmaceutical finance .
n
- Experience in Pharmaceutical / API / Formulation / Manufacturing industry preferred.
n
- Strong working knowledge of SAP FI/CO, MS Excel, MIS and financial modelling .
n

Purpose of the Role:

n

To provide comprehensive financial support and business partnering to manufacturing operations, R&D; and SBUs , with responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, cost control, profitability analysis, inventory and working capital management, pricing/margin analysis, and management reporting.

n

The role will partner with manufacturing, commercial, sales, marketing, R&D; and business leadership teams to drive cost efficiency, profitability improvement and informed financial decision-making .

n

Key Responsibilities:

n

1. Budgeting & Forecasting:

n

n
- Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting for manufacturing plants, R&D; and assigned SBUs.
n
- Develop cost, revenue and profitability projections.
n
- Monitor key financial assumptions and business drivers.
n
- Coordinate with plant and business leadership to ensure realistic and actionable budgets.
n
- Conduct scenario planning and sensitivity analysis.
n

2. Manufacturing Cost Control:

n

n
- Analyze Budget vs. Actual performance across manufacturing operations.
n
- Review production cost trends and identify cost optimization opportunities.
n
- Analyze manufacturing overheads, including:
n
- Repairs & Maintenance
n
- Consumables
n
- Manpower Costs
n
- Utilities
n
- Other Plant Expenses
n
- Prepare and review detailed utility and manufacturing cost MIS.
n
- Drive accountability for cost control across functions.
n

n

3. Capacity Utilization & Idle Cost Analysis:

n

n
- Monitor plant capacity utilization and operational efficiency.
n
- Calculate and report idle capacity costs and under-absorption of overheads .
n
- Identify operational inefficiencies impacting product cost and profitability.
n




- Provide financial insights for capacity and resource optimization.
n

n

4. Inventory & Working Capital Management:

n

n
- Monitor inventory levels, ageing, slow-moving/non-moving inventory and inventory turns.
n
- Review inventory valuation and provisioning requirements.
n
- Support initiatives for inventory optimization and working capital improvement.
n
- Analyze inventory-related financial impact on business profitability.
n

n

5. SBU & Business Performance Analysis:

n

n
- Analyze business performance by product, customer, geography, country and SBU .
n
- Monitor revenue, volume, gross margin, contribution margin and profitability trends.
n
- Prepare actionable financial insights for business leadership.
n
- Support monthly business reviews and management presentations.
n

n

6. Pricing & Margin Management:

n

n
- Analyze product-wise and market-wise pricing trends.
n
- Monitor gross margin and contribution margin movements.
n
- Support pricing decisions and profitability improvement initiatives.
n
- Evaluate the financial impact of pricing, volume, product mix and cost changes.
n

n

7. Profitability Analysis:

n

n
- Prepare customer-wise, country-wise, product-wise and SBU-wise profitability analysis .
n
- Identify key profitability drivers and improvement opportunities.
n
- Support product portfolio optimization.
n
- Conduct financial evaluation of new products, customers and markets.
n

n

8. Selling & Marketing Cost Management:

n

n
- Monitor selling and marketing expenditure against approved budgets.
n
- Conduct Budget vs. Actual analysis.
n
- Identify cost optimization opportunities while supporting business growth.
n
- Provide financial insights to sales and marketing teams.
n

n

9. R&D; Cost Monitoring:

n

n
- Track project-wise R&D; expenditure.
n
- Monitor R&D; budgets and utilization.
n
- Allocate costs to relevant projects/business segments.




n
- Support project profitability and investment analysis.
n

n

10. Fixed Assets, Capex & SAP:

n

n
- Ensure accurate capitalization of fixed assets in SAP.
n
- Review depreciation accounting and related controls.
n
- Monitor Capex against approved budgets.
n
- Support post-investment reviews and assess financial returns on major investments.
n
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of relevant SAP FI/CO transactions and reports.
n

11. Management Reporting & MIS:

n

n
- Prepare monthly Manufacturing, SBU and Business Finance MIS .
n
- Develop dashboards and management reports covering:
n
- Revenue & Volume
n
- Manufacturing Cost
n
- Gross & Contribution Margin
n
- Inventory & Working Capital
n
- Capacity Utilization
n
- Overheads
n
- Selling & Marketing Expenses
n
- SBU Profitability
n
- Provide variance analysis and actionable recommendations to management.
n
- Support monthly/quarterly business review presentations.
n
