About the Role
n

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Manufacturing Transformation to lead the next stage of our manufacturing evolution.
n
n
This is a strategic executive leadership position responsible for transforming our manufacturing operations into a world-class, digitally enabled, high-performance organisation. The successful candidate will lead operational excellence initiatives, modernise manufacturing systems, improve productivity and quality, and build a scalable manufacturing capability that supports the company's long-term growth.

Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Quality, and the Executive Team, you will drive continuous improvement while maintaining the flexibility, innovation, and customer focus that define our business
n
Key Responsibilities
n
As the Director of Manufacturing Transformation, you will:
n
Manufacturing Strategy & Transformation
n
n
- Develop and execute the company's long-term Manufacturing Transformation Strategy.
n
- Create and maintain a Manufacturing Master Plan aligned with business objectives.
n
- Lead organisation-wide manufacturing transformation initiatives.
n
- Improve productivity, efficiency, and operational performance.
n
- Increase manufacturing capacity and scalability.
n
- Reduce manufacturing lead times and improve gross margins.
n
- Establish world-class manufacturing standards and best practices.
n
- Foster a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
n
n
Operational Excellence
n
n
- Design and implement robust manufacturing systems and processes.
n
- Standardise production workflows, procedures, and documentation.
n
- Improve production scheduling, capacity planning, and material flow.
n
- Optimise factory layout and workstation design.
n
- Lead Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and waste reduction initiatives.
n
- Implement Root Cause Analysis and corrective action processes.
n
n
Production Engineering & Industrialisation
n
n
- Lead Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Test (DFT) initiatives.
n
- Oversee New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing readiness activities.
n
- Improve manufacturing validation and process capability.
n
- Drive product modularisation and assembly optimisation.
n
- Partner with Engineering to ensure products are designed for efficient manufacturing without compromising quality or reliability.
n
n
Digital Manufacturing
n
n
- Lead the implementation and optimisation of ERP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
n
- Introduce barcode traceability and electronic work instructions.
n
- Develop real-time production dashboards and reporting systems.
n
- Implement digital quality management and manufacturing analytics.
n
- Support Industry 4.0 and Smart Factory initiatives.
n
n
Automation & Technology
n
n
- Identify automation opportunities that improve productivity, quality, and safety.
n
- Implement automated testing, digital inspection, production monitoring, and manufacturing data capture.
n
- Evaluate robotics and semi-automated assembly solutions appropriate for a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
n
n
Quality & Continuous Improvement
n
n
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to improve manufacturing quality and reliability.
n
- Improve First Pass Yield (FPY), reduce non-conformances, and support CAPA initiatives.
n
- Drive supplier quality improvements and manufacturing audits.
n
- Reduce warranty costs through process improvement and manufacturing excellence.
n
n
Supply Chain & Procurement
n
n
- Collaborate with Procurement to improve supplier performance and capability.
n
- Support strategic sourcing and make-versus-buy decisions.
n
- Improve inventory management and material availability.
n
- Lead value engineering and cost reduction initiatives.
n
n
Leadership & People Development
n
n
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing manufacturing leadership team.
n
- Coach Production Managers, Manufacturing Engineers, Supervisors, and Team Leaders.
n
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
n
- Lead organisational change through effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
n
n
Performance Management
n
n
- Develop and monitor manufacturing KPIs including:
n
- Productivity
n
- Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
n
- Labour efficiency
n
- First Pass Yield (FPY)
n
- On-time delivery
n
- Manufacturing lead time
n
- Capacity utilisation
n
- Inventory turns
n
- Supplier performance
n
- Warranty costs
n
- Present monthly strategic performance reports and improvement plans to the Executive Leadership Team.
n

Qualifications
n
Essential
n
n
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
n
- Minimum 15 years' experience in manufacturing leadership, including senior management roles.
n
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale manufacturing transformation programs.
n
- Strong experience in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
n
- Proven experience implementing ERP and MES systems.
n
- Experience in production engineering, industrialisation, and New Product Introduction (NPI).
n
- Solid commercial and financial acumen.
n
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
n
n
Preferred
n
n
- MBA or Master's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations,
or Business.
n
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (or equivalent).
n
- PMP or other project management certification.
n
- Experience with Industry 4.0, Digital Manufacturing, Smart Factory technologies, and manufacturing automation.
n
n
