Role Description

n

n

H K EXPORTS is looking for a 3D Designer specializing in STL file creation and 3D-printing-ready models. This is a part-time, remote position focused specifically on converting product concepts, sketches, reference images, and design ideas into accurate 3D printable models and production-ready STL files.

n

The designer will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models that can be directly used for 3D printing, prototype development, and mould/die making. The role requires a strong understanding of 3D geometry, dimensions, wall thickness, tolerances, printability, and practical manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

n

n

* Create accurate 3D models from reference images, sketches, and product concepts.

n

* Develop STL files specifically optimized for 3D printing.

n

* Ensure models are watertight, manifold, and free from non-printable geometry.

n

* Design practical geometry suitable for different 3D-printing processes.

n

* Maintain appropriate wall thickness, clearances, tolerances, and structural strength.

n

* Create models with clean surfaces and accurate dimensions.

n

* Modify and refine existing 3D models according to manufacturing requirements.

n

* Design models that can be used for prototypes, moulds, dies, and production development.

n

* Identify and eliminate issues such as non-manifold edges, intersecting geometry, unnecessary undercuts, floating surfaces, and mesh errors.

n





* Provide final files in STL format, along with other 3D formats when required.

n

* Make revisions based on physical 3D-printing test results and manufacturing feedback.

n

* Maintain organized project files and version control.

n

Required Qualifications

n

n

* Solid skills in 3D modeling and CAD/3D design.

n

* Proven experience creating STL files for 3D printing.

n

* Strong understanding of 3D-printing requirements and limitations.

n

* Experience with software such as Blender, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Rhino, ZBrush, 3ds Max, or similar 3D modeling software.

n

* Ability to accurately model objects from 2D images, sketches, measurements, and reference photographs.

n

* Good understanding of mesh topology, watertight geometry, wall thickness, tolerances, and print orientation.

n

* Ability to create both organic/decorative shapes and precise technical geometry.

n

* Experience preparing models for FDM, resin/SLA, or other 3D-printing technologies is preferred.

n

* Experience designing models for moulds, dies, casting, or manufacturing will be an advantage.

n

* Strong attention to detail and dimensional accuracy.

n

* Ability to work independently and deliver files within agreed timelines.

n

n

Important Requirement

This position is not focused on rendering, animation, lighting, or marketing visualization.

Reference Design → Accurate 3D Model → 3D-Printing-Ready STL File

The selected designer must be able to create practical, technically correct, and production-ready STL files, rather than only visually attractive 3D renders.
