Job Summary:
We are seeking a Regional Financial Controller (APAC) to be based onsite in Bengaluru, India, to oversee the day-to-day financial operations, accounting compliance, and manufacturing cost management for our subsidiaries in India and Malaysia. Reporting directly to the US-based Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the parent company, Resistance Optics, the candidate will lead the local finance teams in both countries. The candidate will serve as the critical bridge between APAC operations and US corporate headquarters, ensuring local compliance while aligning financial reporting with US GAAP. This role requires up to 25% travel to Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Operations & Plant Finance
· Cost Accounting: Oversee inventory valuation, standard costing, manufacturing variances, and plant operational efficiency tracking for our high-precision optics manufacturing facilities.
· Capital Expenditures (CapEx): Evaluate, track,
and audit capital investments for regional machinery, cleanroom equipment, and plant expansions.
Team Leadership & Subsidiary Oversight
· People Management: Direct, mentor, and develop local finance and accounting teams in both Bangalore, India, and Malaysia
· Financial Reporting: Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for both entities, ensuring strict corporate timelines are met
· Transactional processes: Develop efficient invoicing, collections and Account Payable processes across divisions.
· Corporate Alignment: Reconcile local financials and convert them into US GAAP/parent formats for monthly global consolidation at the US headquarters level
· Intercompany & Cash Flow: Manage complex intercompany transfer pricing, cross-border payments, and multi-currency reconciliations (USD, INR, MYR) across our affiliated networks.
Local Compliance & Governance
· Taxation: Ensure strict compliance with regional manufacturing tax incentives, custom duties, defense/aerospace regulatory frameworks, corporate tax, and indirect taxes (India GST and Malaysia SST)
· Statutory Audits:
Act as the primary liaison for external auditors in India and Malaysia to ensure accurate and timely completion of local statutory audits.
Qualifications and Skills
Education & Certifications
· Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
· Certification: Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent local certifications (e.g., ICAI for India, MIA for Malaysia) is highly preferred.
Experience & Hard Skills
· Industry Focus: Mandatory 7+ years of progressive financial management experience specifically within the manufacturing industry (experience in aerospace, defense, precision engineering, or electronics manufacturing is a major plus).
· Global Structure: Proven experience working within a US-multinational parent company framework with multi-entity structures.
· Accounting Standards: Dual proficiency in US GAAP and localized accounting frameworks (Ind AS for India, MFRS for Malaysia).
· Systems Expertise: Hands-on experience with SAP ERP systems is highly advantageous.
Mobility & Soft Skills
· Location & Travel: Based full-time in Bangalore with the willingness and ability to travel up to 25% to Malaysia to support the team and local operations.
· Communication: Exceptional English communication skills, with a proven track record of presenting financial data cleanly to US executive leadership across time zones.
