About the Role

We are building a next-generation microdrama studio powered by AI production workflows, creating short, addictive, vertical-format episodic stories for mobile-first audiences.

We are looking for a Creative Director with hands-on experience in microdrama, short drama, vertical drama, or short-form scripted content who understands what makes audiences watch, engage, and binge.

This is not a traditional film/TV Creative Director role. You will combine strong storytelling instincts with AI-driven production workflows to shape stories, characters, visuals, pacing, and overall creative direction while leading a fast-moving creative team.

Key Responsibilities

- Own the creative vision and direction for AI-generated microdrama content across multiple genres.
- Develop strong hooks, emotional arcs, episode pacing, twists, and cliffhangers designed to maximize viewer retention.
- Translate scripts into AI-production-ready direction, including shot lists, character bibles, visual references, and prompt frameworks.
- Lead and mentor writers, AI prompt engineers, AI artists/generalists, editors, voice designers, and other creative team members.
- Establish creative standards, workflows, templates, and style guides to maintain character consistency and visual quality at scale.
- Explore and evaluate emerging AI tools for video generation, image generation, voice/TTS, lip-sync, motion, and character consistency.
- Review creative output and provide clear, actionable feedback to ensure rapid iteration and high-quality production.
- Monitor content performance, including hook retention, completion rates, episode drop-offs, and engagement, and use insights to improve creative decisions.




- Track microdrama trends, popular genres, audience preferences, competitor content, and emerging storytelling formats.
- Manage creative timelines and work closely with production teams to deliver a high-volume content slate within deadlines.
- Build a culture of experimentation and continuously improve the AI content production pipeline.

Requirements

- 3+ years of experience in microdrama, short drama, vertical drama, OTT short-form content, or a similar scripted-content industry.
- Strong understanding of microdrama storytelling, short-form hooks, pacing, retention, and cliffhanger mechanics.
- Proven experience leading and directing creative teams.
- Strong understanding of character development, genre conventions, visual storytelling, and audience psychology.
- Hands-on knowledge of AI content-generation tools or strong willingness to work extensively with them, such as Runway, Kling, Hailuo, Midjourney, ElevenLabs, or similar platforms.
- Ability to translate creative ideas into clear instructions for both human teams and AI-driven workflows.
- Strong creative judgment combined with a data-driven approach to content performance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, experimental environment where tools, formats, and workflows evolve rapidly.
- Excellent communication, leadership, collaboration, and feedback skills.
- Strong understanding of what makes audiences click, watch, engage, and binge.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with China's duanju/microdrama ecosystem or international short-drama platforms.
- Experience creating content for platforms such as ReelShort, DramaBox, GoodShort, ShortMax, or similar platforms.
- Experience working with AI-first content production teams or studios.
- Strong understanding of vertical video storytelling and mobile-first audience behavior.
- Portfolio or track record demonstrating successful short-form/microdrama content.
