Position Overview

The Dean of the School of Mass Communication will provide academic leadership, strategic direction, and administrative oversight to the School. The ideal candidate will have a distinguished academic and professional background, a commitment to interdisciplinary education, and the ability to build and nurture a culture of excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic Leadership:

- Develop and execute a strategic vision for the School of Liberal Arts, aligning with the university’s overall mission.
- Lead curriculum design and innovation across a diverse range of liberal arts disciplines.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration between the School of Liberal Arts and other schools within the university.

2. Faculty Development:

- Recruit, mentor, and retain highly qualified faculty members.
- Promote a culture of research, teaching excellence, and professional development.

3. Student Success:

- Ensure a robust student-centered learning setting that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and ethical leadership.
- Collaborate with student affairs to develop extracurricular activities that complement academic programs.

Administrative Oversight:

- Manage the School’s budget, resources, and facilities effectively.
- Oversee accreditation processes, academic policies, and quality assurance standards.
- Serve as a representative of the School at university-wide committees and external forums.

5. Community Engagement:

- Build partnerships with industry, government, and academic institutions to enhance the School’s reputation and opportunities for students and faculty.
- Advocate for liberal arts education in public forums to promote its value in a rapidly changing world.

Qualifications

- Academic Credentials: Ph.D. in a relevant discipline from a recognized university.
- Experience: At least 10+ years of experience in higher education, with a proven track record in academic leadership, program development, and research.
- Skills:
- Strategic planning and decision-making.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to foster an inclusive and diverse academic environment.
