Functional QA Engineer API, Database & Functional Testing

Job Summary

We are looking for a Functional QA Engineer with strong experience in Functional, API, and Database Testing to ensure the quality and reliability of web, mobile, and API-based applications. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with manual testing, REST APIs, SQL, Jira, and Agile methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
Analyze requirements and prepare test scenarios, test cases, and test data.
Perform Functional, Regression, Integration, System, Smoke, Sanity, and UAT testing.
Validate applications across web and mobile platforms.
Perform API testing using Postman, Swagger, or similar tools.
Validate API request/response payloads, status codes, authentication, and error handling.
Perform database testing and backend data validation using SQL.
Verify data consistency and integrity between applications and databases.
Log, track, and manage defects using Jira.
Collaborate with developers, BAs, and Product Owners to identify and resolve issues.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
Prepare test execution reports and quality metrics.

Required Skills





Functional Testing
Solid experience in manual testing and test case design.
Functional, Regression, Integration, Smoke, Sanity, and UAT testing.
Requirement analysis and traceability.

API Testing
Hands-on experience with Postman, Swagger, or similar tools.
Strong understanding of REST APIs.
JSON/XML request and response validation.
Knowledge of Bearer Token, OAuth, and Basic Authentication.
API collections and workplace management.

Database Testing
Strong SQL knowledge.
Experience with data validation and backend verification.
Ability to write complex SQL queries.

Tools & Methodologies
Hands-on experience with Jira for defect tracking and test management.
Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Valuable to Have
Exposure to automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
Basic understanding of CI/CD and DevOps concepts.
Experience with Git or other version control systems.
ISTQB Foundation certification is an added advantage.

Education

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
