Role & responsibilities
About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate Senior Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of drivers and applications for Alif Semiconductor SoC IPs. The ideal candidate should have solid expertise in C programming, ARM architecture, and communication protocols, along with hands-on experience and knowledge of SD, SDIO, and eMMC drivers, MMC/SD protocol specifications, and low-level driver development across embedded RTOS platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain SD, SDIO, and eMMC drivers for embedded RTOS (Azure RTOS / Free RTOS / Zephyr / CMSIS) platforms.
Work with MMC/SD protocol specifications, including initialization, command/response handling, data transfers, error handling, and device configuration.
Analyse and resolve issues related to:
Clock and bus configuration
DMA transfers
Interrupt handling
Data corruption
CRC and timeout errors
Power sequencing
Card detection
Performance and throughput, etc.
Proficient in protocol-level debugging using logic analysers, oscilloscopes, JTAG, and trace/debug tools.
Investigate issues across the hardware, bootloader, driver, kernel, and application layers.
Work on ARM-based architectures, SoCs, and evaluation boards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and the open-source community to deliver high-quality solutions.
Utilize Git-based version control systems for efficient code management and collaboration.
Preferred candidate profile Years Exp: 4 to 10 years of Embedded Software Development in SD/SDIO/eMMC drivers
Academic Background: Masters or bachelors degree in computer science or Electronics ECE or any other equivalent.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Knowledge of SD, SDIO, and eMMC driver development and architecture
Hands-on experience with MMC/SD protocol specifications and controller drivers
Good understanding of clock/bus configuration, DMA, and interrupt-driven data transfers
Solid understanding of ARM architecture, SoCs, and board-level bring-up.
Hands-on experience with communication protocols like I2C, SPI, UART.
Proficient in protocol-level debugging using logic analysers, oscilloscopes, JTAG, and trace/debug tools.
Ability to investigate issues across hardware, bootloader, driver, kernel, and application layers.
Robust proficiency in C programming with experience in embedded environments.
Experience working with Git-based workflows.
Solid debugging and problem-solving skills.
