Job Title: VMware ESXi Platform Engineer

Location: Remote

Duration: Fulltime

Salary Range: 25 LPA to 31 LPA

Position Overview
The VMware ESXi Platform Engineer will support the maintenance, patching, upgrading and troubleshooting of a large enterprise virtualization environment consisting of approximately 9,000 nodes and growing.
The engineer will execute maintenance through VMware vCenter and related lifecycle tooling, monitor each activity through completion and troubleshoot failed or incomplete changes. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring the ability to diagnose issues, make safe corrections and resume execution-not simply initiate automated jobs.

Responsibilities

- Execute ESXi 8 patching, vulnerability remediation and platform upgrades.
- Plan, initiate, monitor and validate host and cluster maintenance through vCenter.
- Diagnose failed updates using platform logs, events and task history.
- Coordinate maintenance mode, host evacuation, remediation, reboot and return-to-service activities.
- Validate cluster health, capacity, networking and storage dependencies before and after changes.
- Document completed work, technical issues, validation evidence and next actions.




- Provide complete handoffs so work can continue across regions.
- Support future ESXi/vSphere 9 planning, testing and migration activities.
- Participate in scheduled after-hours and weekend maintenance windows.

Required Skills

- Hands-on experience administering VMware ESXi 8 and vCenter.
- Experience with ESXi patching, lifecycle management, upgrades and vulnerability remediation.
- Robust troubleshooting skills across VMware hosts and clusters.
- Working knowledge of HA/DRS, maintenance mode, virtual networking and shared storage.
- Experience working within formal change-management and incident-management processes.
- Strong written communication and cross-region handoff discipline.
- Ability to support the assigned regional shift and scheduled maintenance rotation.

Preferred Skills

- Exposure to ESXi/vSphere 9.
- PowerCLI, Python, Ansible or similar automation experience.
- Experience supporting large enterprise virtualization environments.
- VMware certification.
- Experience within banking, financial services or another regulated industry.
