Position: Senior Single Store Database Administrator (Enterprise DBA)
Location: Hyderabad
Experience
8+ years of overall enterprise DBA experience, with robust hands-on experience managing Single Store (formerly MemSQL) in large-scale, mission-critical production environments.
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly experienced Enterprise Database Administrator with strong expertise in Single Store and extensive experience managing large, highly available, distributed database environments.
The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of managing mission-critical enterprise databases, handling complex production incidents, performing database architecture and performance optimization, implementing HA/DR solutions, and driving database reliability, scalability, security, and automation.
This role requires someone who can operate independently at an enterprise DBA/SME level, provide technical leadership, and work closely with application, engineering, infrastructure, Dev Ops, and architecture teams.
Key Responsibilities

- Own the administration and reliability of enterprise-scale Single Store database platforms across production and non-production environments.

- Design, deploy, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain large Single Store clusters.

- Manage distributed database architecture, including aggregators, leaf nodes, partitions, replication, sharding, and cluster topology.

- Provide 24×7 production support for business-critical database environments.

- Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex database, performance, availability, and capacity issues.

- Perform advanced SQL and database performance tuning, including query-plan analysis, indexing, workload optimization, and resource utilization.

- Design and maintain high availability, disaster recovery, backup, restore, and business continuity solutions.

- Develop and execute database capacity planning and scalability strategies for high-volume workloads.

- Plan and execute major database upgrades, migrations, cluster expansions, and infrastructure changes with minimal business disruption.

- Establish enterprise standards for database configuration, security, monitoring, backup, recovery, and operational procedures.

- Implement proactive monitoring and alerting for database health, performance, availability, storage, memory, CPU, replication, and cluster capacity.

- Automate DBA operations, health checks, monitoring, maintenance, and deployment activities using Python, Shell scripting, or other automation technologies.

- Conduct regular disaster-recovery exercises and validate backup and recovery processes.

- Implement database security, including RBAC, access controls, authentication, auditing, encryption, and compliance requirements.

- Work with architects and engineering teams on database design, data modeling, workload architecture, and scalability.

- Participate in enterprise architecture and technology decisions related to database platforms.

- Establish and maintain DBA runbooks, SOPs, standards, operational documentation, and troubleshooting procedures.

- Mentor junior and mid-level DBAs and provide technical leadership on complex database initiatives.

- Participate in incident, problem, and change-management processes and provide detailed post-incident RCA reports.

- Drive continuous improvement in database availability, performance, automation, and operational efficiency.

Mandatory Technical Skills

- Extensive enterprise DBA experience in large-scale production environments.

- Strong hands-on experience with Single Store / MemSQL.

- Deep understanding of distributed database architecture.

- Expert-level SQL and database performance tuning skills.

- Strong knowledge of Single Store cluster architecture and administration.

- Experience with large datasets, high transaction volumes, and high-concurrency workloads.

- Strong understanding of HA, replication, failover, backup, restore, and DR.

- Advanced troubleshooting of CPU, memory, disk I/O, network, storage, and database-level bottlenecks.

- Strong Linux/Unix administration skills.

- Strong scripting and automation experience using Python, Shell, or similar technologies.

- Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability platforms.

- Strong understanding of database security, access management, and compliance.

- Experience managing databases in cloud and/or hybrid environments.

Enterprise-Level Expectations
The candidate must be capable of:

- Taking end-to-end ownership of critical database platforms.

- Supporting databases with strict availability, performance, and recovery SLAs.

- Handling high-severity production incidents and leading technical resolution.

- Performing deep-dive performance analysis rather than relying only on monitoring alerts.

- Designing solutions for scalability, resilience, and fault tolerance.

- Working with senior architects, engineering leadership, and application teams.

- Making sound technical decisions during critical production situations.

- Leading database migrations, upgrades, capacity expansions, and major infrastructure changes.

- Establishing enterprise DBA standards and best practices.

- Acting as a Single Store SME / technical authority for the organization.

Preferred Experience

- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.

- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized database deployments.

- Experience with Kafka, CDC, ETL, and real-time data pipelines.

- Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or other enterprise database technologies.

- Experience with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or equivalent.

- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and Dev Ops practices.

- Experience working in regulated or highly available enterprise environments.

- Relevant database/cloud certifications are an advantage.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is not just a Single Store administrator, but a seasoned Enterprise DBA who has managed mission-critical database platforms at scale and has strong hands-on expertise in Single Store.
They should be comfortable working independently, leading complex technical initiatives, troubleshooting critical production issues, and providing technical direction to engineering and DBA teams
