Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team at our steel manufacturing facility in Taloja, Navi Mumbai. You will be responsible for executing routine, preventive, and emergency mechanical repairs on heavy plant machinery, ensuring minimal operational downtime and maintaining strict workplace safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Repair & Overhaul: Inspect, disassemble, repair, and reassemble mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, pumps, valves, conveyor belts, and overhead cranes.
Plant Maintenance: Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance on critical steel manufacturing equipment such as induction furnaces, rolling mills, continuous casting units, and cooling beds.
Alignment & Fitting: Execute exact mechanical alignment, leveling, pump packing, bearing replacements, and mechanical seal fitting.
Fabrication & Welding: Perform basic bench fitting, structural welding (ARC/MIG), cutting, and fabrication tasks for ongoing repairs and machinery modifications.
Preventive Checks: Conduct daily inspections, oiling, lubrication,



and vibration/temperature checks to detect equipment wear and tear early.
Safety Protocols: Follow strict safety guidelines, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, wearing appropriate PPE, and keeping work areas hazard-free.
Reporting: Maintain shift maintenance logs, document replacement parts used, and report unresolved mechanical issues to the maintenance engineer or supervisor.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: ITI in Fitter / Turner / Machinist trade, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: 2-5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance within a steel plant, foundry, forging unit, or heavy manufacturing industry.
Technical Proficiency:
Solid understanding of hydraulic circuit diagrams, pneumatic systems, power transmission drives, and heavy machinery components.
Practical skill in precision measurement tools (vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges).
Hands-on experience with heavy machinery rigging and overhead EOT crane maintenance.
Soft Skills: Good troubleshooting ability, strong work ethic, willingness to work in shift rotations, and effective team coordination.
