Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join our maintenance team at our steel manufacturing facility in Taloja, Navi Mumbai. You will be responsible for fitting, installing, aligning, and repairing heavy plant machinery, mechanical components, and fluid systems to ensure continuous production and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Fitting & Assembly: Dismantle, overhaul, assemble, and fit mechanical components such as gearboxes, pumps, valves, couplings, bearings, and shafts.
Machinery Alignment: Perform precise static and dynamic alignment, leveling, and tolerance checking of heavy machinery using dial gauges and precision tools.
Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems: Inspect and maintain hydraulic power packs, pneumatic cylinders, control valves, oil lines, and seal replacements across production equipment.
Preventive Maintenance: Execute scheduled lubrication, greasing, belt/chain tensioning, and daily routine inspection rounds to detect equipment wear early.
Basic Fabrication & Welding: Carry out basic bench fitting, filing, drilling, structural ARC/MIG welding,



and gas cutting for emergency repairs and modifications.
Breakdown Troubleshooting: Assist senior engineers in diagnosing root causes of mechanical failure in rolling mills, induction furnaces, continuous casting machines, and EOT cranes.
Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to plant safety rules, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and secure heavy lifting/rigging practices.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: ITI pass out in Fitter trade (NCVT/SCVT certified).
Experience: 2-5 years of practical experience as a fitter in heavy manufacturing, preferably in a steel plant, foundry, forging unit, or heavy engineering plant.
Technical Proficiency:
Proficient in using measuring instruments (micrometers, vernier calipers, feeler gauges).
Good understanding of mechanical drive systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and bearing installation techniques.
Experience handling rigging equipment and working on overhead crane mechanical assemblies.
Soft Skills: Quick problem-solving capabilities, physical stamina for shop-floor work, and ability to work effectively in shift rotations.
