Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced General Manager / Head Steel Melting Shop (SMS) to lead the complete SMS operations, maintenance, manpower, productivity, quality, safety and cost-control activities.

The ideal candidate should have robust hands-on experience in Induction Furnace, Continuous Casting Machine (CCM), EOT Cranes and SMS operations/maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead overall Steel Melting Shop (SMS) operations and maintenance.
- Manage Induction Furnace operations and ensure optimum production, productivity and yield.
- Manage Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) operations and maintenance.
- Plan and monitor preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Ensure maximum availability and reliability of Induction Furnaces, CCM, EOT Cranes, MCC, HT/LT panels and utility equipment.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Procurement, Stores, Logistics and Maintenance departments.
- Monitor production targets, power consumption, electrode/refractory consumption and other key process parameters.
- Implement measures for reduction of power consumption and overall production cost.
- Lead and develop operational, electrical and mechanical maintenance teams.




- Conduct daily/monthly performance reviews and prepare MIS reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and statutory requirements.
- Maintain equipment history, maintenance records and performance data.
- Identify recurring equipment problems and implement root-cause corrective actions.
- Support project execution, erection and commissioning of SMS equipment wherever required.
- Ensure effective manpower planning, training and shift management.
- Drive continuous improvement, productivity enhancement and cost optimization.

Candidate Profile

- 12 + years of relevant experience in steel melting shop / steel manufacturing / induction furnace-based steel plant.
- Strong experience in Induction Furnace and CCM.
- Experience in handling large technical and operational teams.
- Strong knowledge of SMS production and maintenance processes.
- Candidates from Steel / Metals / Foundry / Induction Furnace-based manufacturing industries preferred.
- Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
