About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Business Head Finance to lead the complete finance function for a large-scale copper manufacturing plant in Bharuch.
This is a senior leadership role, operating as Plant and business Head, with responsibility for the plant's overall financial management, financial controls, business planning, FP&A;, taxation, compliance, audit, working capital and commercial finance.
The role will work closely with the CFO, Promoters/Management and Plant Leadership to drive financial discipline, profitability, cost optimization and informed business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plant Finance & Financial Operations
- Lead the complete finance and accounting function for the copper manufacturing plant.
- Oversee plant accounting, month-end closing, financial reporting, MIS and management reporting.
- Establish robust financial controls across procurement, inventory, production, sales, stores and commercial operations.
- Monitor plant-level profitability, cost structures, margins and financial performance.
- Ensure accurate accounting of raw materials, production costs, inventory, WIP, finished goods and scrap/by-products.
- Drive financial discipline and process improvements across the plant.
2. FP&A;, Budgeting & Business Planning
- Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting and long-range financial planning for the plant.
- Develop and monitor plant-level P&L;, cash flow and working capital plans.
- Provide management with regular analysis of actual vs. budget, variance analysis and corrective actions.
- Build financial models for capacity expansion, capex, new product lines and strategic investments.
- Support management in evaluating business cases, investments and operational initiatives.
3. Costing & Profitability Management
- Drive product costing, manufacturing cost analysis and contribution/margin analysis.
- Monitor key cost drivers including raw materials, power, fuel, conversion costs, labour, logistics and other overheads.
- Work closely with plant and operations teams to identify cost reduction and productivity improvement opportunities.
- Establish appropriate cost accounting and performance measurement systems.
- Analyze profitability across products, customers and business segments.
4. Working Capital & Treasury
- Lead management of working capital, receivables, inventory and payables.
- Optimize cash conversion cycle and ensure efficient deployment of working capital.
- Monitor cash flows, fund requirements, banking relationships and financing arrangements.
- Work closely with commercial and procurement teams on credit terms, payment cycles and customer collections.
5. Taxation
- Oversee direct and indirect taxation matters for the business.
- Ensure timely and accurate GST, TDS, income tax and other applicable statutory compliances.
- Manage tax assessments, notices, audits and coordination with external tax advisors.
- Identify opportunities for tax efficiency while ensuring complete regulatory compliance.
6. Statutory, Internal Audit & Compliance
- Ensure robust statutory, regulatory and financial compliance across the plant.
- Lead coordination with statutory auditors, internal auditors, tax auditors and other external agencies.
- Strengthen internal controls, SOPs and financial governance.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions.
- Maintain strong compliance with applicable Companies Act, GST, Income Tax and other regulatory requirements.
7. Commercial Finance
- Partner closely with procurement, sales, logistics and commercial teams.
- Review commercial contracts, pricing mechanisms, credit terms and financial implications of business decisions.
- Provide financial inputs on commodity-linked pricing, customer profitability and procurement economics.
- Support management in negotiating commercial terms with key customers, suppliers and business partners.
8. Copper / Commodity Finance
- Develop strong understanding of copper pricing, commodity-linked procurement and sales,
inventory valuation and price-risk exposure.
- Monitor the financial impact of fluctuations in copper/LME prices, exchange rates and input costs.
- Support management in evaluating hedging, pricing and inventory strategies where applicable.
- Ensure appropriate accounting and financial controls around commodity transactions.
9. MIS & Management Reporting
- Develop a robust plant finance MIS and business performance dashboard.
- Provide timely reporting on revenue, EBITDA, margins, production economics, working capital, cash flow and key financial KPIs.
- Present financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Move the finance function beyond accounting towards data-driven business partnering.
10. Leadership & Business Partnership
- Build and lead a high-performing finance team covering accounting, taxation, commercial finance, FP&A; and compliance.
- Partner with the Plant Head and functional leaders on operational and strategic decisions.
- Act as the finance business partner to the plant leadership team.
- Drive a culture of accountability, financial discipline, transparency and continuous improvement.
- Support the CFO/management on broader corporate finance and strategic initiatives.
Candidate Profile
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 1520 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
- Strong experience in manufacturing finance, preferably in copper, non-ferrous metals, recycling, metals or other commodity-linked industries.
- Should have handled end-to-end plant finance rather than only accounting or controllership.
- Strong exposure to FP&A;, costing, budgeting, working capital, taxation, audit and compliance.
- Experience managing finance for a large manufacturing plant / multi-shift industrial operation will be highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of commodity pricing, inventory, raw material accounting and manufacturing economics is desirable.
- Should have demonstrated experience in managing and developing finance teams.
- Strong analytical, commercial and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work closely with promoters, CFO, plant leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Should be comfortable operating in a hands-on, high-growth and operationally intensive manufacturing environment.
