Job Profile

The Estimation and Costing Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and budgets for civil & Interior finishing, construction projects. The role involves analyzing drawings, specifications, and project scope to ensure competitive and profitable bidding while maintaining quality and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quantity Take-Off & Cost Estimation

- Review architectural, Interior and structural drawings, BOQs, and specifications.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for civil works (RCC, finishing, infrastructure, etc.).
- Prepare cost estimates including materials, labour, equipment, and overheads.
- Develop rate analysis for various construction activities.

2. Tendering & Bidding

- Analyse tender documents and identify scope, risks, and constraints.
- Prepare tender submissions with accurate pricing and supporting documents.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain quotations.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and clarify technical/commercial queries.

3. Cost Planning & Budgeting

- Prepare project budgets and cost plans.
- Monitor project costs and identify deviations from the budget.




- Suggest cost optimization strategies without compromising quality.

4. Vendor & Subcontractor Management

- Evaluate vendor quotations and negotiate pricing.
- Maintain a database of approved vendors and rate history.
- Assist in finalizing subcontractor packages.

5. Coordination & Reporting

- Work closely with design, procurement, and project execution teams.
- Prepare cost comparison statements and reports.
- Provide regular updates on estimate revisions and project costing.

Key Skills

- Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials.
- Proficiency in estimation software and tools (e.g., Excel, AutoCAD, MS Projects, or equivalent).
- Positive understanding of BOQ preparation and rate analysis.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills

- Experience in EPC or large-scale construction projects.
- Familiarity with contracts and commercial terms.
- Knowledge of local construction codes and standards.

Work Environment

- Office-based with occasional site visits as required.
