Applicants with the following set of essential qualification(s) and mandatory experience can apply for one position of Jr. Mechanic post :
3-year Diploma in CS/IT or an equivalent discipline with relevant experience of two years after the
diploma.
OR
ITI in CS/IT or an equivalent discipline with relevant experience of five years after the ITI certificate.
OR
Bachelor's degree (other than B.Tech./ B.E.) CS/IT or an equivalent discipline.
For a diploma in a given discipline, if the pre-requisite happens to be (10+2), the required experience will be reduced by two years.
Essential Skills and Experience :
* Technical Proficiency: Strong foundation in computer hardware and software, with hands-on
experience in troubleshooting and repairing components like SMPS, HDD, and RAM.
* Linux Systems: Basic knowledge of Linux systems, including installation, configuration, and
troubleshooting.
* AV Equipment: Understanding and experience with audiovisual systems, including projectors and PA systems.* Networking: Familiarity with network setup and basic troubleshooting.
* Inventory Management: Experience in managing and updating equipment inventory using software tools.
* Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues, especially in a real-time
classroom or lab environment.
* Teamwork: Team-oriented mindset, able to work effectively in a team to provide prompt technical
support.

Job Description / Responsibilities
The selected candidate will join a team responsible for managing the IT infrastructure of the CSE
Department at IIT Bombay. The key responsibilities include:
* Installation, configuration, upgrade, and troubleshooting of Linux systems.
* Ensuring all computer systems in the labs are operational and ready for use before classes.
* Providing real-time technical support during classes, labs, and meetings.
* Installing and configuring operating systems on lab computers.
* Troubleshooting and repairing hardware issues, including replacing SMPS, HDD, RAM, etc.
* Coordinating with vendors for the repair and maintenance of non-working machines.
* Assisting CSE users with the setup of teaching labs, classrooms, and meeting rooms.
* Maintaining and supporting projectors and audiovisual systems in labs, classrooms, and meeting rooms.
* Managing access control for classrooms, labs, and meeting rooms using the biometric system,
including assigning and revoking access permissions.
* Managing and updating the inventory of various equipment in the in-house software developed by the CSE Sysad Team.
* Monitoring and resolving hardware-related issues filed in the department's ticketing system,
ensuring prompt and efficient resolution.
Compensation range
Pay Level 3 (21700-69100)
(Gross Pay includes Basic Pay + Dearness allowance + House Rent Allowance + Transport Allowance + Dearness allowance on Transport allowance)
