Job Summary

The Special Educator is responsible for supporting students with diverse learning needs by providing individualized instruction, developing appropriate learning strategies, and fostering an inclusive classroom environment. The role involves collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure that every student has equitable access to quality education and opportunities for holistic development.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify students with diverse learning needs through observation, assessment, and collaboration with classroom teachers.
- Develop, implement, and review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on students' educational and developmental goals.
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction using evidence-based teaching strategies.
- Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and assessment methods to meet individual learning requirements.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to promote inclusive teaching practices and differentiated instruction.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of assessments, interventions, and achievements.
- Counsel and guide parents on strategies to support learning and development at home.
- Coordinate with psychologists, therapists, counsellors, and other specialists, where required, to ensure comprehensive student support.
- Promote students' social, emotional, behavioural, and communication skills through structured interventions.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings, case conferences, professional development programmes, and school activities.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, CBSE guidelines,



and inclusive education practices.
- Maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive student information.

Qualifications

- Educational qualifications as prescribed by CBSE.
- CTET qualification wherever applicable. (As stated in the recruitment advertisement.)

Experience

- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position in a reputed school.

Skills & Competencies

- Strong understanding of inclusive education and differentiated instruction.
- Knowledge of learning disabilities, developmental disorders, and behavioural interventions.
- Excellent communication, counselling, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prepare and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Strong observation, assessment, documentation, and report-writing skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a student-centred approach.
- Proficiency in educational technology and assistive learning tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams.
