Role & responsibilities
- Conduct daily site safety inspections to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential hazards associated with coating operations.
- Monitor Permit-to-Work (PTW) activities for hot work, confined space entry, work at height, electrical work, and maintenance activities.
- Carry out Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA/JSA) for steel coating, blasting, painting, and material handling activities.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respirators, chemical-resistant gloves, coveralls, face shields, safety goggles, and fall protection equipment.
- Monitor abrasive blasting, shot blasting, grit blasting, and painting/coating activities to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Ensure secure handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of paints, thinners, solvents, coatings, and other hazardous chemicals as per MSDS requirements.
- Conduct Toolbox Talks (TBT), safety induction programs,
and job-specific safety training for employees and contractors.
- Monitor work at height activities involving steel structures, platforms, scaffolding, and access systems.
- Inspect scaffolding, ladders, lifting tools & tackles, cranes, and material handling equipment before use.
- Ensure proper ventilation and gas monitoring during coating and painting activities carried out in confined or enclosed areas.
- Conduct regular inspections of firefighting equipment, emergency response systems, eye wash stations, and spill control arrangements.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain safety records, PTW registers, inspection reports, training records, incident reports, and statutory compliance documentation.
