We are looking for a Python Developer/Quant Developer to join our Proprietary Trading Systems team. The candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, integrating and maintaining live trading systems, backtesting frameworks, broker APIs and market-data pipelines.
The role requires strong production-level Python development skills, knowledge of financial markets and the ability to work with AI-assisted development tools. You will be expected to write clear technical specifications, review AI-generated code, identify potential issues and ensure that all code is reliable, secure and production-ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain live trading engines, including grid trading and stop-and-reverse strategies.
- Implement ATR-based spacing, pyramiding, position caps and emergency kill switches.
- Develop technical analysis modules covering trend, momentum, volatility and volume indicators.
- Build and maintain the Macro Regime Engine for processing macroeconomic indicators, identifying market regimes and applying parameter overrides.
- Integrate and maintain broker and market-data APIs, including Zerodha Kite Connect REST and WebSocket APIs.
- Manage tick-data integrations, MCX and NSE contract masters, expiry schedules and rollover processes.
- Develop and maintain backtesting frameworks with bar-accurate execution, slippage, brokerage and transaction-cost modelling.
- Implement walk-forward testing and ensure that backtests are free from lookahead bias.
- Reconcile backtesting results with live trading results and internal trading spreadsheets.
- Manage order placement, order-state reconciliation, position tracking and profit-and-loss calculations.
- Ensure idempotent order placement and reliable recovery after application restarts or system failures.
- Develop structured logging, trade blotters,
monitoring dashboards and real-time alerts.
- Write unit, integration and regression tests for all major strategy and system changes.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve the software development lifecycle while independently validating all generated code.
- Create automation agents and tools to streamline development, testing, deployment and monitoring activities.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain meaningful, well-documented Git commits.
- Required Skills and Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional experience in Python development, preferably in trading, fintech or financial technology.
- Strong knowledge of Python, pandas, NumPy, dataclasses and type hints.
- Experience with virtual environments and dependency management tools such as virtualenv, Poetry or similar.
- Good understanding of pytest and test-driven development practices.
- Practical experience with asynchronous programming or threading.
- Experience working with WebSocket consumers, queues, back-pressure and graceful shutdown mechanisms.
- Strong experience in REST and WebSocket API integration.
- Knowledge of authentication, token refresh, rate limits, retries, exponential backoff, idempotency and reconnection/resynchronisation.
- Understanding of Indian financial markets, including MCX contract specifications, lot sizes, tick sizes, expiry, rollover and delivery-related processes.
- Basic understanding of NSE Futures and Options,
margins, STT, CTT and brokerage calculations.
- Solid numerical and analytical skills with a focus on accurate, reproducible results.
- Experience with Git, code reviews and structured software development practices.
- Ability to identify and correct subtle errors in AI-generated or third-party code.
- Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience in live trading systems or trading with personal or institutional capital.
- Knowledge of TA-Lib, pandas-ta, vectorbt or backtrader.
- Experience with SQL and time-series databases such as PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB or DuckDB.
- Familiarity with Redis, Docker and Parquet-based data storage.
- Experience with FastAPI or Streamlit for internal dashboards.
- Familiarity with Grafana and system monitoring.
- Exposure to tick-level data pipelines such as TrueData, GDFL or similar platforms.
- Experience creating automation agents for software development and operational workflows.
- Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong interest in algorithmic trading, quantitative development and financial technology.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of numerical accuracy.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, on-site trading environment.
- Able to troubleshoot production issues and take ownership of systems.
- Follows disciplined coding, testing, documentation and version-control practices.
- Understands that trading systems must be reliable, observable and thoroughly tested before deployment.
- What We Offer
- Opportunity to work on live trading and quantitative systems.
- Exposure to algorithmic trading, broker integrations and Indian market infrastructure.
- Performance-linked bonus based on desk and individual contribution.
- A challenging and technology-focused work environment.
