Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a small engineering team building a new product component from the ground up.

You will work closely with other backend and frontend engineers, as well as the Product Owner, QA, and Scrum Master. The product will serve tens of thousands of users daily, making security, availability, reliability, scalability, and cost-efficient operations critical to the role.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with the team to understand requirements, user stories, and solution designs.
- Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
- Develop clean, maintainable, scalable, and highly testable backend applications.
- Follow engineering best practices and principles such as SOLID, KISS, and YAGNI.
- Practice true Test-Driven Development (TDD) and deliver production-ready code.
- Build, deploy, operate, and support backend services in production.
- Provide L3 production support for your components.
- Contribute to L1/L2 documentation and knowledge bases to improve operational support.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and other team activities.
- Use and continuously improve AI-assisted development workflows, including Claude Code.
- Contribute to improving application performance, reliability, security, and scalability.

Required Skills & Experience

- 6+ years of experience as a TypeScript-focused backend developer.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with NestJS as a core technology.
- Strong understanding of NestJS architecture, patterns, and best practices.
- Proven experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and test-first development.
- Advanced proficiency with Claude Code or similar AI-assisted coding tools.
- Proven experience building, deploying, and supporting NestJS applications on AWS.
- Strong understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures.




- Experience with platform-oriented engineering and scalable system design.
- Experience working in Agile or lean startup environments.
- Ability to balance engineering quality with practical business requirements.
- Willingness to work full-time from the Koramangala, Bangalore office.
- Candidates should be able to join within 30 days.

Good to Have

- Experience with Next.js or frontend development.
- Experience in high-level infrastructure architecture and solution design.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Experience designing and supporting highly available cloud infrastructure.

Location & Work Arrangement

This is a full-time, in-office position based in Koramangala, Bangalore.

Candidates should currently be based in Bangalore or be willing to relocate. The preferred commute is approximately 30 minutes or less during peak hours.
