Test & Validation/ Immediate Hire
Design, specify, and oversee construction of out-of-pile sodium experimental facilities to validate thermal-
hydraulic models, component performance, and safety system behaviour in support of the AERB licensing basis.
Responsibilities
– Define the experimental programme to support the AERB safety case: natural circulation, decay heat
removal, sodium component qualification.
– Design scaled sodium thermal-hydraulic test loops including EM pumps, argon cover gas systems, sodium
purification, and cold traps.
– Perform similarity and scaling analysis to ensure test facility results are applicable to the full reactor design.
– Specify sodium-compatible instrumentation: EM flowmeters, ultrasonic level sensors, thermocouples, and
sodium leak detection systems.

Establish sodium safety protocols: fire suppression,
handling procedures, and facility layout per DAE
sodium safety guidelines.
– Interface with IGCAR/BARC to leverage existing sodium infrastructure for component and in-pile
irradiation tests.
– Manage facility construction with vendors and commissioning through first sodium fill.
Qualifications
– 10+ years designing or operating sodium test loops or liquid metal experimental facilities.
– Hands-on sodium handling experience.
– Solid background in scaling analysis and test-to-reactor applicability.
– Familiarity with out-of-pile SFR component test programmes (IGCAR Sodium Technology Division, CEA,
JAEA, or ANL).
– Advanced degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering.
